Expert Analysis
Michael Huntley | Prep Redzone Scout
Ruff took the majority of snaps at quarterback for the South and threw for 170 yards with two touchdowns. He would have had a higher completion percentage if not for a few drops early in the game.
He has great touch on the deep throws and the ball jumps out of his hands. Ruff is committed to the University of Chicago and has the potential to be an early contributor there.

was the MVP of the Prep Redzone Showcase in April and it was an easy pick by the coaches and scouts.
He has a quick release and can get the up the field with a flick of the wrist. He had great timing with the receivers at the showcase despite just meeting them and was always hitting them in stride.
On film, Ruff is not afraid to stand in the pocket and take a big hit. He also has the athleticism and pocket awareness to scramble and make something out of nothing. He makes the correct reads more often than not and puts the ball in the right place.
St. Margaret’s has a new coaching staff that is excited about him and will help unlock his potential. He has an offer from the University of Chicago.

Ruff consistently was hitting receivers in stride and throwing the best balls of the day.
His release is quick and he was able to fit the ball into tight windows during individual drills and the one-on-one period. The ball jumps out of his hands and he took somewhat of a leadership role at the camp.
Ruff has drawn some interest from Ivy League schools and with the new coaching staff at St. Margaret’s has the tools to be a college quarterback.

A handful of quarterbacks were excellent in moments on Sunday but Ruff was consistently making quality throws and reads.
He had the most velocity on the short throws and was hitting receivers in stride on the deep throws. His release is quick and I didn’t see him throw a bad ball all day.

Ruff had a great junior season once his receivers got healthy. He tied the school’s single-game touchdown record that his brother had set the year before.
His release is very quick and the ball jumps out of his hands. Receivers at the Prep Redzone Stock Up Showcase were very impressed with his arm strength. He’s a solid athlete who tested pretty well in the speed drills as well.
Ruff will be doing virtual junior day visits with some Ivy League schools and I expect his recruitment to pick up a bit this spring.
