Jackson flashed massive potential in his freshman season as an explosive, natural athlete in all three phases. He shows elite playmaking traits with the ball in his hands offering a combination of speed, elusiveness, and vision at all three levels. He’s a fundamental, physical tackler from his safety spot that’s efficient in his movement and closes space aggressively downhill. He’s a versatile defender that can operate as a two-deep safety or a lockdown man-cover nickel with a combination of instincts, reactions, and compact quickness. Jackson’s totaled five offers since October from Georgia, Utah, Arizona, UNLV, and Colorado St.
Highlights
Nickels showed a downfield WR skillset totaling 370 yards and 3 TDs on 24 catches as a freshman for Desert Pines. He’s fluid and technical as a route-runner, creating separation with releases on the front end and ability to change/vary speeds over the top. He demonstrates notable ball-tracking and body control adjusting to the deep ball. Nickels has had a busy offseason including a transfer to Bishop Gorman, visits to Ohio St. and UCLA, and an offer from UNLV.
Highlights
Rios flashed promising young talent as the second-leading tackler (89) for Reed’s defense last season from his OLB/SS spot. He’s athletic and rangy as a tackler, can close space in the flat, and delivers strong contact in space. He has a quick downhill trigger and tracks the ball with relentless motor. He was effective chipping in at RB showing vision at the LOS and burst through the hole. Rios is one of several talented returning pieces for Reed’s defense in the fall.
Cox was a playmaker on both sides of the ball for Shadow Ridge’s JV squad at QB/FS. He’s an active defender in the secondary that’s disruptive in passing lanes and possesses the ball skills to create turnovers as a deep safety. He’s a decisive option-QB that’s quick and crafty with the ball in his hands. Cox will be a name to watch making the jump to varsity this season.
