While the overall number of prospects in attendance was a little light, the talent on display certainly was not. There were over 10 athletes on the 2027 Prep Redzone Next National Watchlist in attendance. There were also more than a few new names and faces that impressed. The prospects got a ton of reps on both sides of the ball and put in a ton of work.
In addition to the MVPs at each position, standouts at the skill positions, running back and linebacker standouts and linemen stand outs, here is a look at the Quarterbacks that opened some eyes. 34,15.
Maryland quarterback Jack Sabol Jack Sabol 5’9″ | 170 lbs | QB C. Milton Wright | 2027 State MD had a nice showing at the Pennsylvania PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp. The righty measured in at 5-foot-8 and 165-pounds wit ha solid build on him. Sabol wasn’t elite at any one thing, but did a lot of things at a pretty good level. He made consistently good decisions and got the ball out timely. He’ll be at Our Lady of Mont Carmel for high school ball in the fall.

Shooting up over two inches and nearly 15 pounds since I last got official measurements on him, Kellen Greene Kellen Greene 6’0″ | 160 lbs | QB Wilson | 2027 PA was a quarterback that coaches and scouts had on their short list of top performing quarterbacks. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds with great length and the start of a muscular build, Greene is looking like he’s going to be a really good prospect. Big time upside on the field and a respectful kid in one-on-one conversations. He’s had a spot on the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist since early October.
The Pennsylvania PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp was the second time I saw Spencer play live, in as many weeks. The Maryland prospect, who is only in the seventh grade, is positioning himself to be looked at one of the top 2028 prospects in the DMV. The Southpaw throws the ball with some serious zip on the short and intermediate routes and can hit the long ball too. On a handful of reps I watched of him, I did notice his passes can take off a bit and several were delivered high. However, most were still catchable. As he continues to work through another year of pre-high school ball, he’s only going to keep getting better.

With the arm strength Smith has, it’s hard to believe he’s only a 2028 prospect (currently in seventh grade). While we didn’t have a long ball competition at the Pennsylvania PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp, my money would have been on him in the 2028 class. His ability to hit the vertical routes was impressive throughout the camp. The quarterback position had a number of really good players and Smith was right there with him. He moved pretty well in combine testing too. Would like to see him develop more touch, and/or understanding of when to take a little bit off the ball instead of just throwing laser after laser. There’s something to this kid…
While I don’t think. Benzio had his best day at the camp, there’s no doubt in my mind this kid has a bright future at the Quarterback position. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder looks the part of a future big time signal caller and the coaches at The Pennington School surely can’t wait to get their hands on him. Coming off a monster eighth-grade season where he totaled 2,573 passing yards, 586 rushing hards and 30 total touchdowns playing for the South Philly Sharks youth team. I’m going to trust my eyes and his body of work on this one. I have all the faith in the world that Benzio, who is a member of the 2027 PRZ Next National Watchlist, is going to be a dog.

Dominick Sgambellone III
Sgambellone III looked like a much-improved quarterback at the Pennsylvania PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp compared to when we saw him at camp in New Jersey this past January. The upstate New York resident looked more confident in everything he was doing on the field and it translated to his performance as well. As mentioned above, it wasn’t a crazy quarterback group in terms of overall numbers but nearly every quarterback there was average or better. Sgambellone III continued to heat up as the competition went on, securing a spot in the best-on-best reps at the end of the camp.
Davon Melbourne
Davon Melbourne
It killed me to now have Melbourne included in the best-on-best round at the end of the Pennsylvania PRZ Next Rising Prospect Camp. I have notes written all over my roster print out and notebook commenting on his build, athleticism and overall ability to move. Melbourne measured in at 5-foot-6 and weighed just under 135 pounds, but looked the part. I don’t know how tall Melbourne will ultimately get, but there’s a ton of athletic upside here. Without knowing much more than what I saw at camp, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him change to a skill position and go on to be a very good player. Stay tuned in to this Pennsylvania 2028 prospect.
