The Prep Redzone Prospect Tour came through Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon and top talent from the state came out and showed out throughout the three hours in Oklahoma. It started with combine testing and then went into individual drills, followed by 1 on 1 competitions to wrap up the camp. And throughout the week, we’ll be putting a spotlight on some of the top performers at each position from Sunday’s camp. In case you missed it, we announced the MVP winners for each position following the camp and we had a break down on each player. You can check that out RIGHT HERE. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on the wide receivers and defensive backs because they obviously go hand in hand. And generally at our camps, the wide receivers outnumber the defensive backs six to one on a lot of instances. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the week for more positional breakdowns!
Out of the five prospects on this breakdown and spotlight, Kiefer 2025 wide receiver Brayden Holt Brayden Holt 6’4″ | 220 lbs | TE Kiefer | 2025 State OK was a new name for us that we weren’t familiar with. We got familiar pretty quickly because Holt was probably the tallest prospect in the pass catcher group. So right from the jump, measuring at 6’3, Holt stood out. Then we watched him go through drills and he has some pretty good bend in his game and can move around a little bit. Once the passes started throwing around, Holt was pretty consistent at looking the ball in and then he really impressed when it was time to go into the one on one competitions. Because of his size, Holt simply had a size advantage against literally every defensive back he matched up with. Holt is just now finishing up his sophomore season so it’s going to be interesting to see how he evolves as a prospect. He’s listed right now as a wide receiver but we could very well see him move closer to the line of scrimmage and work as a pass-catching tight end. There was a lot to like about Holt and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him this summer and fall.

There might not have been a better looking athlete than Perkins-Tryon 2024 wide receiver Cutter Greene Cutter Greene 6’0″ | 190 lbs | WR Perkins-Tryon | 2024 State OK at the camp on Sunday. Greene was right there in the mix with eventual WR MVP Garrett Vaughn Garrett Vaughn 5’8″ | 165 lbs | WR Bixby | 2024 State OK for the award and honestly, we couldn’t have gone wrong by giving it to Greene. This is the same 2024 prospect that has a 40 inch vertical and we knew that he was going to be one of the top athletes in attendance and he backed up the hype. Greene’s fastest 40-yard dash time was a 4.44 as he was absolutely flying. He continued to show off that explosiveness by having both of his broad jumps go at least ten feet. And then it was time to show off the hands. Greene caught everything that was thrown his way and with his leaping ability, he’s a match-up nightmare and he showed it on a few occasions where the ball was just thrown up and Greene went up and got it. There was nothing a defensive back could do to slow him down. We are all in on Greene moving forward and we think his stock is just going to continue pointing up. College coaches are noticing as well. Expect him to blow up this summer and fall.
Stillwater 2024 wide receiver Talon Kendrick Talon Kendrick 6’2″ | ATH Stillwater | 2024 State OK was right there with Greene, contending with Vaughn for MVP at the wide receiver position. And just like Greene, we were fired up to see Kendrick in person after watching him in the state championship game last season and then seeing his junior film a few weeks ago. Kendrick is an absolute playmaker and the college coaches in attendance were raving about him during the one on one portion of the camp. One coach talked about Kendrick and mentioned how he didn’t see the Stillwater playmaker drop a pass. He certainly got on the radar of a few schools if he wasn’t there already. With Stillwater losing some big names off their offense from last season, we anticipate Kendrick to be one of the top playmakers and have an expanded role within the offense. He certainly impressed us throughout the afternoon in Broken Arrow and we think that he’s going to be a steal in the state’s 2024 class. He’s another prospect that is never going to hurt your team and he proved last season that he can be used in a variety of ways on offense.

Choctaw 2025 wide receiver Vidal Ortiz II Vidal Ortiz II 6’4″ | 190 lbs | WR Choctaw | 2025 State OK has made dominating our Prep Redzone camps a regular occurrence. This is the third consecutive Oklahoma camp that Ortiz has attended and walked away as one of the top standouts at his position. It’s hard not to be impressed by Ortiz every time we see him in a camp setting. The size, consistent hands and precise route running is something that always stands out to us when we watch Ortiz get after it. As we’ve mentioned a few times, the wide receiver group we had this weekend was incredibly deep and also very talented. Ortiz certainly belongs in that conversation with the top guys at the position after another stellar performance. As he goes into his junior season this fall, we anticipate Ortiz to become a very productive player in his new environment. Ortiz spent his first two years at Westmoore and has moved to Choctaw this offseason. He should give the Yellowjacket offense a boost at the wide receiver position. Choctaw has a few weapons on offense returning so Ortiz will provide depth, size and playmaking ability.

We mentioned the wide receivers outnumbering the defensive backs by quite a bit right? Everyone wanted to play offense on Sunday and there were only a handful of prospects that were just playing defensive back throughout the camp. Mustang 2024 defensive back Zachery Warren Zachery Warren 6’1″ | DB Mustang | 2024 State OK was a guy we were very excited to see in our camp setting on Sunday. Warren immediately stood out as one of the more physically impressive athletes among the defensive back group. He stood out by just looking the part right from the jump and then we started the testing portion and Warren continued to impress. He was one of the few athletes at the entire camp that would broad jump over the 10-foot mark and he did it on both jumps. There’s no doubt that Warren has some tools to be one of the better athletes in Oklahoma’s 2024 class. Warren got our attention last fall and we’re excited about the potential he has moving forward this season. Mustang’s secondary loses one of the best players in the state with Jacobe Johnson Jacobe Johnson 6’4″ | DB Mustang | 2023 State OK but they do bring back enough guys, including Warren, to be very strong.
