Have you ever watched someone’s film and wondered, “Why doesn’t this kid have more offers, or any offers at all?” Western Pennsylvania consistently produces numerous recruits who fit this description. I’ve been compiling a list of recruits whom I believe possess genuine FBS/FCS talent. With the transfer portal, many high school recruits are being overlooked, whereas in the past they would have had more opportunities. Mejaun Rose, Brandon Chambers Brandon Chambers 6'2" | 190 lbs | ATH Farrell | 2024 State PA , Terrell James Terrell James 6'0" | 180 lbs | ATH Taylor Allderdice | 2024 State PA , and Courtney Dunn Jr. have all been offered at least one D1 scholarship. Ruben Gordon Ruben Gordon 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Washington | 2024 State PA Jr. and Pace Prosser are still looking for their first opportunity to materialize. But don’t worry, there’s still time left to GET THESE KIDS TO YOUR SUMMER CAMP!

HAWK’S OPINION:
Gordon is a dynamic athlete who’s a serious deep threat. He’s like a miniature version of DeSean Jackson in the WPIAL, with the way his speed allows him to catch long bombs. For starters, he’s able to play in the slot or the Z at a high level. He’s very fast releasing and runs crisp routes, getting in and out of his breaks swiftly. His acceleration stretches secondaries and puts pressure on the safety quickly in the slot. He’s definitely the “just get him the ball” guy on Wash High’s team. He has good hands mixed with the ability to turn YAC into TDs. Once RG breaks free, he possesses the afterburners to cruise for scores. He’s probably the most dangerous returner I’ve seen on film this spring due to his jets and ability to dead leg. RG displays explosive running and jumping abilities, clearing 6’4 in the high jump. He also boasts an impressive 10.83-second time in the 100-meter dash.

HAWK’S OPINION:
Pace is a 3 sport star that leads his team as a free safety and QB. He’s a ball hawk on the backend that does a good job of intercepting passes at the highest point. You can see how his basketball skills aid his athleticism on the gridiron, as he maintains a good vert, hips and DB footwork. His understanding of offenses assist him in reading and reacting when playing centerfield. He runs the alley aggressively producing TFLs. He displays speed returning INTs for scores.
Prosser has an accurate arm and quick release as a quarterback. He’s a dual-threat weapon that keeps defenses honest due to his skillset. I like Prosser as an FCS-level safety that can help out on special teams. Prosser’s ability reminds me of a 20′ recruit from his area named Caleb Burke (Richland High School) whom ended up at New Hampshire. He’s getting heavy Interest from FCS Penn, Saint Francis, Lehigh and PSAC programs at the present time.

Courtney Dunn Jr
Courtney Dunn Jr
HAWK’S OPINION:
Courtney is an athletic 3-technique that plays with a lot of intensity. He fires off the ball low and hard with brute hand violence. He’s skilled at engaging and disengaging linemen in pursuit of the ball. He’s physical and often drives OL into the backfield, clogging the interior. His strength is apparent in the way he successfully locks out blockers while reading the play.
Dunn is very athletic and mobile tracking the ball carrier once he redirects. His motor assists him when interior pass rushing, causing havoc in the backfield. He’s a punishing tackler that doesn’t quit on plays. Right now, he has an FCS offer and is 6’2, 265 lbs, and will most likely be between 280-300 lbs by his freshman college season. With his frame, strength, and agility, I believe he’s versatile enough to play NG or emergency DE. Dunn is deserving of more FCS opportunities from schools such as Youngstown, Saint Francis, Robert Morris, Lehigh, and Lafayette. Dunn has the potential to play FBS, and programs like Toledo, Eastern Michigan, and Central Michigan have been keeping tabs on him.

HAWK’S OPINION:
James is a strong back with big potential. He’s fast and displays good balance with body control. He hits the hole swiftly and does a great job of locating daylight on inside runs. He’s a back that wears on you methodically with every rep that he carries the ball. His stop-and-go acceleration, mixed with the ability to dead leg at full tilt, is of the D1 level. He’s a dangerous WR out of the backfield capable of taking it to the house. His toughness shows itself in the way he’s always falling forward, fighting for extra yards. He’s a clear playmaker that will also make an impact on special teams. I think his highest potential ceiling is FBS mid-major but should have multiple FCS options to choose from.
Terrell just picked up his first offer from D1 HBCU, Howard. I believe James is capable and deserving of evaluation from local programs such as Lafayette, Lehigh, Villanova, Robert Morris, and Saint Francis.

HAWK’S OPINION:
Brandon is a big play waiting to happen on both sides of the ball. He’s a lockdown corner that has the size and physicality to play safety. He’s got above-average ball skills intercepting and receiving passes. He excels in off or press-man coverage and has a good vertical leap. He plays with a low pad level and maintains a good controlled tempo in his pedal. He’s a physical DB that likes to compete in coverage and frequently produces PBUs.
As a running back, BC displays tremendous speed, vision and cutting ability. He’s shifty and capable of breaking long TDs running inside or outside of the tackles. Brandon is 6’2, 195 lbs and a capable receiver with adequate receiving hands. Chambers’ talents are great for specials as returner or the defensive team jobs. He has 3 FCS offers from Youngstown, Maine and Morgan State currently. His dawg mentality and deep bag of talents is why I tend to think that he’s able to play FBS ball. Power fives like Syracuse and Wisconsin are also recruiting Chambers.

HAWK’S OPINION:
Mejuan has the makeup of a solid FBS OT and is athletic enough to play DL. He demonstrates excellent burst off the line of scrimmage and delivers a powerful initial shock. He is strong, consistently playing behind the line of scrimmage and rarely getting pushed back. While he may not possess exceptional explosiveness, his strength and physicality are top-notch. As a junior, Mejuan improved in terms of speed and agility, with more time left for overall progression. His strength enables him to fully extend and lock out opponents when redirecting in pursuit of the ball carrier. Although he’s capable of being a Division one D Lineman, his frame and attributes scream top-tier O Lineman. The agility he shows on film also lets me know that he moves well enough to play OG too.
