When it comes to evaluating prospects, live competition provides the most insight into the talents and capabilities a player possesses.

The levels of play and competition are considered in the evaluation process of underclassmen. Just because a freshman or sophomore did not play on varsity does not mean their value as a potential prospect is lesser than the underclassmen on varsity squads. Everyone's situation is different, which is also taken into consideration.

Lastly, it is important to note that physical attributes matter in the recruiting process, making them a factor in the evaluation process. It is no secret that Division I programs look for specifics when it comes to measurables, oftentimes at the expense of talents and skill sets.

A player's recruiting directly impacts their ranking as a prospect, but it is extremely rare for a player's ranking to affect their recruiting.
