Today, I'm looking at the top-rising junior quarterbacks in Illinois as we head into the summer. With these guys only entering their junior season, I think the race for the top overall quarterback spot is still wide open. We've got some intriguing names with extensive experience on varsity and a few names that impressed at the sophomore level. All of these guys displayed plenty of upside on tape and are serious names to watch for this season and beyond.

[player_tooltip player_id='161508' first='Ethan' last='Plumb'] St. Charles North

Equipped with a quick release, poise, the ability to throw off-platform, and shows pinpoint accuracy with defenders coming down the barrel. Will be a four-year varsity starter when it's all said and done.

[player_tooltip player_id='213819' first='Colton' last='Gumino'] Hersey

Shows a live arm, impressive vertical touch, the ability to alter his arm slot at a moment's notice, and a fearlessness inside the pocket. His athleticism can also provide problems when the pocket collapses.

Cooper Kmet, St. Viator

Has NFL bloodlines, a quick setup, he's a natural throwing on the move and can adlib on his own to buy extra time outside the pocket. Kid is tough as nails on top of it all.

[player_tooltip player_id='537213' first='AJ' last='Bravieri'] Johnsburg

Has the arm talent to challenge deep half safeties, he drops the go ball right over his target's shoulder in-stride and has good speed as a runner beyond the line of scrimmage.

[player_tooltip player_id='288435' first='Jacob' last='Bell'] Naperville North

Bell knows how to take some mustard off his throws, he's creative when the protection breaks down and can put some serious zip on his intermediate throws. He is extremely competitive on tape and I look forward to watching him against varsity competition this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='201957' first='Marcus' last='Thaxton'] Morgan Park

Climbs the pocket with his eyes downfield scanning for someone to throw to, he's quite elusive against free rushers and can get the ball out of his hand almost instantaneously. He is one fun prospect to watch on tape.

[player_tooltip player_id='278885' first='Bradyn' last='Little'] Quincy

Has proven production, knows how to ID 1 on 1 matchups on the outside & will take a shot downfield. He's a gamer that can find the holes in zone coverage and quickly exploit them.

Jacob Ritter, Lincoln Way East

A wide-open spread quarterback with timing, dynamic pocket mobility, elite change of direction for the position, and excellent touch throwing on the move.
