. Abrams currently checks in as the #2 overall prospect in the junior class and top player at his position. What he has done the last two seasons has been phenomenal!
As a junior Abrams led the state in passing with 4,072 yards through the air along with 40 passing touchdowns while averaging 290+ yards a game. His completion percentage was 68.5%. Also recorded 10 rushing touchdowns as well counting for 50 overall on the season.
He is also a winner. Abrams has never lost a game as the starting QB for Montini. Led his team to a state title last year in 3A. They got bumped up to 4A this season and played a difficult regular season slate. He led his team to a win over eventual 6A champs Fenwick 31-29 while throwing 15/19 for 163 yards and two touchdowns against a great defense.
A couple weeks later he had a gunslinger show with the other elite QB in the 2027 class

and Carmel. They two superstars went back and forth in an epic battle of future college football stars. Abrams racked up 568 passing yards on 22-33 and four scores through the air in a 55-54 victory.
They also beat 6A state semi finalist St. Laurence as Abrams went for 289 yards through the air winning 23-0.
In the state playoffs he didn't cool down as in the quarterfinals vs Coal City he dropped 241 yards and 3 touchdowns winning 35-0. Next up was the semis where they won 47-27 against Morris where he threw for 305 yards and four more touchdowns.
Then in the state championship game against Rochester. This is what we wrote about his performance in their 47-33 victory.
Montini 2027 quarterback has the bullseye on him every time he steps on the field as the top quarterback and #2 overall prospect in the junior class. He hasn't lost a game…..ever as a starter. Steps up to the challenge every time and that is exactly what he did in the state championship game. He had moments where he had to face some challenges especially after throwing two picks, but he is different because he followed that up by ripping a 3rd and 19 pass for a first down with his back in his own endzone. Abrams plays with a ton of confidence and poise. His vision really stands out and has since the first time we saw him. The way he reads the field and processes information is absolutely next level! Really like how he maneuvers in the pocket with quick moves shuffling to avoid pressure and can also throw on the run when needed. He puts the correct amount of zip on different passes. He will throw the fastball when he needs to fit it in tight or on a quick route. The deep ball is a thing of beauty as it consistently has excellent touch on it. Can run when he needs to including on designed RPOs. His final stat line read 20/30 for 418 yards, 4 TDs, and 2 interceptions. Also had 46 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.
It was an epic season for the junior signal caller. As one of the highest rated quarterbacks in the country in the 2027 class he will have a big college choice to make in the upcoming months along with another season to go to see if he can three peat and not lose a game in 3 years.
Congratulations to Israel on winning the Prep Redzone Illinois Player of the Year!
