The PRZ Music City Mayhem 7v7 tourney has come and gone and we saw plenty of standout performances throughout the various divisions. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone throughout the week for more breakdowns on each division and some of the various positions. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on the best of the best from the quarterback position. This group featured some top prospects that are already on plenty of radars as well as some new names that you should get familiar with moving forward.
One of the more physically impressive quarterbacks in attendance was 2024 QB Brain Rager while he was playing with the TN Stars. Rager has already been on the radar in Tennessee with Liberty Creek but he impressed a few of our writers in attendance on Saturday and Sunday. The first thing that stands out is the frame. Rager is a 6’4 quarterback that stands tall in the pocket and fired some absolute strikes down the field. Rager was definitely one of the quarterbacks that passed the eye test on Saturday and Sunday. And the talk around his game was that he is continuing to get better from the end of last season. If Rager continues to progress this spring and summer, he could blow up in a big way this fall as the game continues to catch up to the size.

One of the top quarterbacks from Kentucky that showed out was 2025 Bryce Button from South Warren. Button impressed not only myself but several other writers that were on hand watching the 18U division. He was playing with TNSelect and had a really good day throwing the ball. Button is a quarterback on the rise in Kentucky’s 2025 class. Button is currently a top five QB prospect and it appears that the arrow is continuing to go up following his sophomore season. If this weekend was any indication on what he can be down the line, we see why you should buy in right now on Button’s continued growth moving forward. It appears that he’s only going to get better as he continues to develop all the areas of his game.

Ben Davis 2025 quarterback Isaiah Rogers just knows how to perform big at Prep Redzone events. Back in December, Rogers was the quarterback MVP of a Prep Redzone camp and he ended up being one of the top quarterbacks in attendance this weekend. Rogers helped lead TFP Flite Boyz to the #1 seed following pool play and the poise that he plays with in the backfield was something that really stood out. Rogers just appeared to be all about business and never got too high or too low throughout the weekend. He made big throw after big throw, looked the part and never got caught up in the emotions of a tournament setting. Rogers looked like he belonged every time we watched him and earned his spot here.

One of the best quarterbacks on display this weekend was 2025 QB Kevin Sperry from Rock Hill. Sperry recently committed to Oklahoma and has been having a fantastic offseason. I personally have watched Sperry at several 7v7 tournaments already this offseason and you can quickly see why he’s considered one of the top quarterbacks in the Texas 2025 class. Playing with C4, Sperry had a really good day throwing on the run throughout the two days. Sperry can sit back and pick defenses apart so it was good to see some versatility in his game by moving around and throwing on the run. Sperry and C4 fell short in bracket play but there’s no doubt that they had one of the more talented teams in the tourney field.
Playing with 502 7v7, Louisville Male 2024 quarterback Kolter Smith had a really good weekend. They were one of the few 18U teams that went undefeated in pool play on Saturday. Smith had a solid control of the offense throughout the day and they were one of the real contenders during bracket play on Sunday. Smith and 502 would lose to the eventual champions in bracket play but that doesn’t minimize what Smith was able to do throughout the weekend. During one of the games on Saturday, Smith was really impressive along with one of his wide receivers and they are also teammates at Louisville Male. That connection should be one to watch in Kentucky moving forward as Smith heads into his senior season.

The other C4 quarterback on display this weekend also comes from Texas with Winsboro 2024 QB Kyler Finney. The Winsboro QB would help them go 3-0 in pool play and they would make a run in bracket play on Sunday. Finney was firing some absolute strikes on Saturday in particular when I got a chance to watch him for multiple games in a row. The accuracy definitely stood out as Finney was putting the ball where it needed to be nearly at all times. He also has quick eyes and was scanning the field and making quick decisions with where to go with the ball. Finney might be somewhat of an unknown right now but that shouldn’t be the case moving forward towards the spring and summer.
Roman Gagliano

PME would capture the 18U division championship and earning MVP honors in that championship game was Opelika 2024 quarterback Roman Gagliano. Very similar to some of the other top quarterbacks on this breakdown, Gagliano was about that business throughout the weekend. He never got to up or too down and made some big throws, especially on Sunday as they would go on to win the 18U championship. Gagliano has been having an outstanding offseason over the last few months. He’s been tearing up the camp circuit already, earning more MVP honors at other events. Gagliano definitely has his arrow pointing up and his recruitment should really blow up in the next few months as we head into the heart of spring and summer.
