Daquavian Slaughter
Slaughter is a super athletic edge prospect with his best football still ahead of him. He comes in at 6’3 200 with long arms, which he uses to distance himself from blockers and free himself. He is twitchy and light on his feet, which allows him to dance around blockers and shoot gaps when you factor in his flexibility as an athlete. He will need to add more play strength and improve pad level in order to play attached to line at the next level, but he can bend around the edge and does a good job of fighting wish his hands at the top of his rush. His run and chase skills are off the charts, frequently flagging down the football from across the field and aggressively closing space. His tackling potential is high as well thanks to his length. Slaughter is a clear D1 caliber defender that needs more attention.
Kelly is an athletic LB prospect that has already garnered FBS attention. Kelly plays with excellent spatial awareness and coverage skills. He is disciplined with his eyes, keeping them locked on the QB and keeping his feet active to open up sudden moves. He does a good job of crowding receivers that run in and out of his zone, making tight windows even tighter for QBs. Kelly isn’t a thumper, but he dissects chaos well when he comes downhill and strikes with good pad-level. Kelly’s athleticism and ability to cloud up the intermediate section of the field for QBs makes him a super intriguing second-level prospect that could find the field early at the next level.
Adkins has picked up plenty of buzz this offseason and has added some D1 offers under his belt as a result. Adkins is a thumper at 6’2 235 that could play on the edge or as a traditional LB. I believe he will eventually settle in at EDGE. He has a stout, muscular frame and can consistently battle with blockers. His frame alone indicates he could be a solid edge setter against the run. He is feisty as a pass rusher and plays with outstanding pursuit skills, which allows him to gradually win out. He is a form tackler, striking hard at the numbers and getting his arms around ball carriers before he ragdolls them to the turf. Adkins is a body type that teams need in the front seven, and he is reaping the rewards of it on the trail.
