Continue ReadingCollege football recruiting is a business that is more or less year-round. The state of Texas has prospects all over the state with the potential and talent to play on Saturdays in the future. Every Monday, I will take a look at some prospects making recruiting headlines across the Lone Star state. We will have plenty of news to look at every week. So, sit back, grab a cup of coffee, and kill a few minutes catching up on recruiting news.
Parker Livingstone-Wide Receiver-Lovejoy-2024
One of the best wide receiver prospects in the country is approaching making a decision on which college he will attend. Last season, Livingstone opened plenty of eye across the country hauling in 96 receptions for 1,891 yards and 28 touchdowns. To say that Livingstone has excellent speed is an understatement. He has the ability to make a man miss and break into the open field easily. Up to this point, he has received 33 scholarship offers. Livingstone had the opportunity to visit Austin and seemed to enjoy his visit with the Longhorns. He is one of the top wide outs in the country and he will give whoever signs him and instant jolt to the offense.
Colin Simmons Colin Simmons 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2024 State TX -Defensive Line-Duncanville-2024
The Duncanville edge rusher can completely destroy an offensive play in just the blink of an eye. Simmons uses his speed well to defeat blocks and can make an opposing quarterback’s life a nightmare. Last season, he broke the school record for sacks with 22.5 sacks on the season. Over the weekend, Simmons had a tremendous visit with Arizona State. The Sun Devils impressed Simmons with what they are building in Tempe. Look for the competition for Simmons to continue and be fierce. With every program needing an edge rusher that can take a game over like Simmons can.
Kobe Black Kobe Black 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Waco Connally | 2024 State TX -Defensive Back-Waco Connally-2024
Kobe Black Kobe Black 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Waco Connally | 2024 State TX is a versatile defensive back that has seen plenty of playing time on both sides of the ball for Connally High School in Waco. He is a cornerback that does an excellent job of locking down opposing wide receivers with his physical play. Black is a player that can return punts and kicks, he has the speed to be a problem for opposing special teams units. Recently, Black had the opportunity to take a visit to Norman to visit the Oklahoma coaching staff. Black is another prospect that college coaches are going to have an interesting recruiting battle over. Look for a big senior season from the Connally product.
Bennett Warren Bennett Warren 6'8" | 310 lbs | OL Fort Bend Christian | 2024 State TX -Offensive Line-Fort Bend Christian-2024
The Fort Bend Christian Academy product is having a busy offseason. Bennett Warren Bennett Warren 6'8" | 310 lbs | OL Fort Bend Christian | 2024 State TX is a powerful run blocker that has no problem opening up rushing lanes. Pass rushers have a difficult time combating the power that Warren has. Warren has good speed and shows the explosion needed to get out of the stance and into the opposing defender. Over the past few weeks, Warren has made visits to Eugene and Norman. The competition for Warren’s service is likely to continue heat up as the offseason continues.
Michael Hawkins Michael Hawkins 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Frisco Emerson | 2024 State TX -Quarterback-Frisco Emmerson-2024
Michael Hawkins Michael Hawkins 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Frisco Emerson | 2024 State TX is a signal caller that has the impressive combination of great mobility and rare accuracy. He is terrific at being able to extend the play while keeping his eyes down the field to make the throw. When the opportunity to presents itself, Hawkins has no trouble using his legs to pick up first downs and extend drives. TCU and Oklahoma continue to show strong interest in the talented signal caller. Meanwhile, Incarnate Word has extended a scholarship offer his way. I except Hawkins to have a strong senior season the recruiting battle heats up for his services.
