Each camper is graded individually by a scoring system based on their performance by each position coach giving the players an evaluation, as well as each player receiving expert coaching during drills and the 1v1 periods. Today we look at players from the early March competition that took place at Prestonwood High School, which featured running backs vs linebackers during the morning session. Here are several standouts who also took home MVP Awards at the Flex Zone 1v1s.
James has a strong, stout, athletic build, with wide shoulders and he has the speed to make plays from sideline to sideline. Sam has a tenacious, up tempo, aggressive game and he plays under control with a high motor. James has great hips, his clean footwork was on full display during the agility drills at the Flex Zone 1v1s and Sam has the ability to change direction quickly. He attacks the ball carrier under control, he uses great leverage and he has a seek and destroy mentality. James plays the pass well, he transitions into his back pedal fluidly, he has the speed to stay locked at the hip with receivers and his extended arm length enabled him break up multiple passes. Sam was the best player on the field, he plays with a swagger and he is one of the top linebackers in Texas in the class of 2025
Highlights
Wyatt made a case an MVP award with his stellar play throughout the Flex Zone 1v1s. He plays with great leverage, he has great eye discipline that enables him to be in position to make plays on the baller carrier and he close in like a hawk attacking his prey. Duffy has nimble feet and had clean footwork during the agility portion of the Flex Zone 1v1a. Look for Duffy to be in the heart of the Southlake Carroll defense this fall delivering blows to his opponents.
Highlights
Sekula has a lean, athletic frame, he uses his extended reach to make sure tackles and he closes in on the ball carrier under control. Jeffery tracks the ball carrier with good patience and once he diagnoses the play he attacks. During the Flex Zone 1v1s, Sekula excelled in the agility drills, showing off nimble, clean footwork and his ability to change directions quickly was on full display. Jeffrey showed excellent eye discipline in pass coverage, not over committing too soon, which enabled him to have several pass breakups. At 6’1 195 pounds, Sekula has the profile that college programs seek out in linebackers and his recruiting buzz is heating up.
Duharte is phone booth quick, he can cut on a dime, he is shifty in the open field and he has the burst to get north in a hurry. Chris has fluid hips, that allows him to change directions quickly, he is shifty in space and he can make defenders miss in the open field. Duharte has great hands, he catches the ball away from his body consistently and his skill set makes him a mismatch in coverage. Look for Duharte to be a major factor for Eaton heading into the 2023 fall season.
Highlights
Renda has elite arm talent. Angelo has a strong arm, he completes passes on the short to intermediate routes at a high completion rate, he has a quick release with great touch on his deep ball and his ability to put the football into tight coverage is what makes his game thrive. Angelo has sees the field well with superb vision, displaying the ability to be on time with his passes and throw his receivers open in tight coverage. Renda will be making plays on Friday nights in the near future and has the skill set that coaches covet at the quarterback position.

Gasperson is extremely accurate with the football, he has a quick release and his ability to complete passes into small coverage windows allows him to drop the ball to his receivers in stride. Gasperson had a great showing at the Flex Zone 1v1s, displaying his skills to make all the throws on the route tree and Maguire has superb touch on his deep ball with the ability to put the football in the right spot. Gasperson is a multi-sport athlete who is on the Argyle track team running the 100M and 200M events. Look for him to help continue the winning tradition at Argyle 2023.
Highlights
Smith has the poise of a player much older. he plays with confidence and he has a calm demeanor. Standing at six foot three, Ethan has a long, lean build, he has a cannon for an arm, he has a strong base when he sets up to throw and he engages his hips to get extra torque on his throws. During the Flex Zone 1v1s, Smith showed off his pinpoint accuracy, completing the short to intermediate throws at a high completion rate and he has the arm strength to thread the needle into tight coverage windows. Heading into Life Waxahachie High School in the fall, Smith has the skill set to make a push for vartsity reps and he has a high ceiling for the future.
Maddux is an explosive, patient runner, he is shifty in space and he has a burst to separate from defenders at the second level. During the Flex Zone agility and footwork drills, Reid had clean footwork and showed that he can change directions effortlessly. Maddux has the ability to make one cut, shift gears and get north quickly. Reid has soft, strong hands and he excelled during the pass catching one on one session versus the linebackers. Maddux was a key contributor in the Parish Episcopal offensive attack in 2022, which helped them win a state title. Reid rushed for 1,038 yards and 19 touchdowns, while averaging 7.2 yards a carry. Ball State, Penn University and Columbia have offered Maddux this spring, but you can expect that number to expand heading into the fall.
Yussuf has a stout build, powerful lower trunk, he runs with excellent leverage and a low center of gravity. He was sharp in the agility portion of the Flex Zone 1v1s and Yussuf displayed clean footwork. In the cat and mouse portion of the Flex Zone 1v1s, Yussuf used his quickness and explosive burst to make defenders miss in space and during the passing drills, he showed strong, soft hands and received the football away from his body consistently. Yussef will be a key contributor for the Wildcats heading into his senior season, following up a superb junior campaign on a state semifinalist Guyer squad.
Trey is an explosive runner, with the ability to make sharp, quick cuts and Joyner III makes defenders miss in space consistently. Trey is phonebooth quick, he has fluid hips and he has the ability to shift gears quickly, which enables him to separate from defenders in the open field. Joyner is a dangerous receiver, who has strong mitts and he catches the football away from his body routinely. In 2022 at Guyer, Trey rushed for over 1,200 yards with 17 touchdowns. Joyner has several junior day visits this spring and his stock will continue to trend up heading into the fall season.
Garnett had an excellent showing at the Flex Zone 1v1s and his MVP performance put everyone on notice that he is one of top running in the class of 2025 in the DFW Area. Chase’s ability to make quick cuts was on full display during the agility drills, his footwork was superb and he showed off his nimble, quick feet. Chase was impressive in the passing one vs one drills, he has excellent late hands, he has the ability to adjust his body to make difficult receptions and on several catches he tracked the ball over the shoulder well. Garnett’s burst combined with his elusiveness, make him a handful to deal with in the open field. I fully expect Garnett to carry the load at Liberty Christian in 2023.
