The D-line can often times set the tone, and a good D-line can wreck an entire offensive game plan. Some names on this list may be familiar to some, but here are my Break Out Candidates of the 2024 Class: DL.
Starting off with a player who is already ranked, Taylor has an explosive get off from the line! I believe his quickness is his best weapon. I think his pass rush moves are fairly solid for a high schooler, and will only get better! He uses his length well, rarely allowing linemen to get their hands in his chest. I like his versatility. His size his good for the edge, but he has bumped inside to rush the guard! His speed make shim a nightmare for slower guards. I still consider Taylor as a Break Out Candidate because I think currently he can be neutralized in some aspects. Though he gives max effort each play, I think he could get stronger at the point of attack. IF a tackle is athletic enough, Taylor has been guided around the QB on several occasions. He is more than capable of doing it, I have seen it with my own eyes! I just want him to do it on a consistent basis! Taylor is a very good player, and whoever he signs with officially will be getting a top recruit, but I want to see his dominate his competition week in and week out!

Before I talk about Fleming, I just want to point out that Manvel has some STUDS on the defensive side of the ball, especially on the D-line. Fleming has inside/outside flexibility, but he primarily plays DT for Manvel (again, they have dawgs on their D-line). He gets off the line with urgency. He’s an athlete at that position. I love his pursuit speed! Fleming also wins his reps with speed out of his stance. I do not think he uses his hands all that much. If he had an attack plan when rushing the QB instead of bolting in a straight line, he could be even more of a threat (and that’s acknowledging he had 9 sacks his junior season (Maxpreps.com) I think Fleming has the making from going good to great.

Ashton Coker
Ashton Coker
Coker is a strong individual! I believe he may take on double teams better than anyone on this list. He does a good job at either splitting the double team or holding the line and not get moved backwards. There is nothing overly flashy about Coker’s game, but the man makes plays. I really like his motor. For a play his size, he is supposed to get tired and start to slow down. He pursues to the ball really well, taking good angles. I do think his pad level is inconsistent. If he can keep his pads low he would benefit a lot for it. I think Katy Taylor has some very solid players on that team, and Coker is one of them!
Antoine Milon
Antoine Milon
Milon is a gigantic man. He’s not the tallest, but he has the size for the interior position. I really appreciate his get off, he intends to cause mayhem every chance he gets. Milon’s power is his bestfriend. He shoots his hands quickly and gets into the O-linemen’s chest. He does not have another counter move, bull rush or no rush. I hope this off-season he is adding more move to his arsenal. My biggest pet peeve with Milon’s game is his stance. Though he is a strong player, and he generates a nice push, I think he could be even more explosive if he adjust his stance. I like Milon’s game. He’s a stout, tough player that will quietly go to work! I like he can be a stud this upcoming season!
