Oklahoma Recruiting Report (Feb. 15th)

But there's always something to cover and recruiting is in full swing across the state for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes. Each week, we'll take a look at some of the top stories happening in recruiting across Oklahoma. In our latest post today, we put a spotlight on four prospects that received their first D1 offer in the last few weeks. For one prospect, it sparked a wave of offers in a short amount of time. And all four prospects in this breakdown have one thing in common. They are pass catchers as either wide receivers or tight ends. He was a prospect that we didn't know much about but his film was very impressive, specifically at the wide receiver position. Within 24 hours of that article dropping, Rowland picked up his first D1 offer from UNLV. And as we wrote last week, u003cstrongu003eu003ca href=u0022https://prepredzone.com/2023/02/oklahoma-recruiting-report-feb-8th/u0022 target=u0022_blanku0022 rel=u0022noreferrer noopeneru0022u003eUNLV is putting a high priority on recruiting Oklahomau003c/au003eu003c/strongu003e with all their Oklahoma ties on the coaching staff. This past weekend, we got our first chance to see Rowland in person while he played with Sooner 7 down in Texas. He passes the eye test in a big way and he has the chance to have a huge spring and summer. Both seasons ended with injuries. After making the move back to Bixby for his junior season, Gouldsby would be one of the breakout stars in 6A-1 football. You can make the argument that in a loaded Bixby offense, Gouldsby was the most electric playmaker of the bunch. It seemed like only a matter of time before Gouldsby started gaining attention from D1 programs and that time has come. Gouldsby reported his first offer earlier this month when Missouri State offered. The Spartans got very creative with how they got Gouldsby the ball in 2022 and we're looking forward to what role he plays this fall.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["360241"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Another prospect picking up his first offer was Bishop Kelley 2024 tight end [player_tooltip player_id='360241' first='Sam' last='Rhoades V'] last week as he was offered by Eastern Michigan. We actually got the chance to see Rhoades this past weekend in Plano while he played with Sooner 7. Physically, he's a really impressive athlete to watch and he was a red zone nightmare for defenses. Rhoades has a lot of versatility to his game, playing tight end on offense and then turning around and playing defense at defensive end. Right now, we like Rhoades and his ability to make plays on the offensive side of the ball but it's hard not to be impressed after watching him in person this past weekend. And just like Rowland, we have a feeling that this is going to be a big spring and summer as more coaches see the Bishop Kelley standout in person.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["268445"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Wagoner standout [player_tooltip player_id='268445' first='Witt' last='Edwards'] is our final prospect on this breakdown and he's been the busiest of the bunch over the last few weeks. In the final days of January, Edwards reported his first D1 offer from Iowa State and it took off from there. Since then, Edwards has been offered by North Texas, Colorado State, Kansas and UNLV offered the Wagoner standout last night. In a span of about three weeks, Edwards went from no offers to five D1 and two power five offers. Edwards is a prospect that we've liked ever since seeing him in person for the first time in the 2021 season. While he's split his time on offense and defense, we think that there's some serious potential there as a pass catcher.
