Continue ReadingNow that the 2022 high school football season has come to a close, it’s time to take a look at some of the Bluegrass State’s biggest playmakers from this past year. The city of Bowling Green has consistently produced some of the toughest teams in the past few seasons, and has no shortage of talented playmakers. Let’s take a look at some of the most impressive players from the area for my 2022 Bowling Green All-City Team. First, I will cover some of the best offensive players from this past year.

Deuce Bailey Deuce Bailey 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Bowling Green | 2025 State KY , a talented 6-foot-1, 165-pound quarterback out of Bowling Green High School has been a gamechanger for the Purples this past season as a sophomore. Bailey helped punch his team into the 5A championship game against the inevitable victor Frederick Douglass High School. Bailey was also one of the top gunslingers in the state, recording 221 completions out of 360 attempts for 3,136 yards and 34 touchdowns. In addition to having a strong offensive line, Bailey is a quick gunslinger and has proven he has the arm strength to compete with the best quarterbacks in the state.

Bryce Button Bryce Button 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB South Warren | 2025 State KY , a 6-foot-2, 180-pound quarterback out of South Warren High School, also had an impressive season under center for the Spartans. As a sophomore this past season, Button helped lead South Warren to a 6-6 overall record and a 1-2 finish in 5A District 2. Button also punched his way onto the list of top passers in the Bluegrass State, recording 168 completions out of 272 attempts for 2,021 yards and 16 touchdowns. What makes Button such an efficient gunslinger is his ability to overwhelm defenses and launch the ball deep down the field.
Lofton Howard Lofton Howard 6'5" | 210 lbs | ATH Greenwood | 2023 State KY , a 6-foot-5, 205-pound ATH out of Greenwood High School, is another impressive offensive talent out of the Bowling Green area. Howard closed out his career with the Gators as the program’s leader in tackles with 404, and the second-highest numbers in interceptions, logging nine. Howard has played multiple different positions during his career with the Gators, contributing on both sides of the ball. Howard signed with Western Kentucky and will make his collegiate debut with the Hilltoppers next season.
Austin Anderson Austin Anderson 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Bowling Green | 2023 State KY , a 6-foot-4, 290-pound offensive lineman and product of Bowling Green High School, has also made a big impact on the gridiron for the Purples this past season. In addition to leading Bowling Green to the 5A Championship Game in 2020, Anderson also helped protect Bailey this past season en route to another 5A state title opportunity. Anderson will be entering his first season of college football with Liberty next season.
Cristian Conyer Cristian Conyer 6'1" | 180 lbs | ATH South Warren | 2023 State KY , a 6-foot-2, 180-pound ATH out of South Warren High School and one of the top prospects in the Bluegrass State, continued to establish himself this past season for the Spartans. Contributing on both sides of the ball, Conyer competed in 10 games, picking up 26 receptions for 292 yards, three touchdowns, and 66 yards on the ground. Conyer is one of the top 2023 prospects in the state of Kentucky, and will kickstart his college football career with the University of Tennessee next season.
Ryan Huff, a 6-foot-2, 184-pound quarterback out of Greenwood High School, was another impressive gunslinger out of the Bowling Green area, leading the Gators to a 9-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in 5A District 2 competition. Huff played under center for Greenwood’s offense in 12 contests, completing 100 passes out of 184 attempts for 1,656 yards and 16 touchdowns. Huff and the Gators ended their season in a 27-21 loss to Owensboro in the playoffs. Huff is quick and efficient under center for the Gators and has a strong arm.
Quinton Hollis Quinton Hollis 5'8" | RB Warren East | 2023 State KY , a 5-foot-8, 173-pound running back and product of Warren East High School, was a gamechanging offensive weapon for the Raiders this past season. Hollis rushed for over 100 yards in the season-opening win against White House-Heritage (TN), and finished the season with 1,010 yards and 14 touchdowns on 132 rush attempts. East Warren closed out the season with a 12-1 overall record and a 4-0 record in 4A District 2 play.

Trevy Barber Trevy Barber 5'9" | 155 lbs | WR Bowling Green | 2026 State KY , a 5-foot-10, 165-pound freshman wide receiver out of Bowling Green High School, has made a huge impact on the offensive end in his first season of high school football with the Purples. In 15 contests, Barber kept Bowling Green alive on the offensive end with 47 receptions for 737 yards and nine touchdowns. As a freshman, Barber showed off his speed and ability to throw off defenders. With his execution on the field, Barber had no issues muscling his way into the endzone.

TelTel Long TelTel Long 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Greewood | 2024 State KY , a 5-foot-11, 170-pound running back out of Greenwood High School, is another major offensive weapon in the Bowling Green area. In his junior campaign, Long helped lead the Gators on the ground. In 12 games, Long recorded 122 rush attempts for 869 yards and four touchdowns. What makes Long so efficient on the ground is his overall speed out of the pocket, his toughness and his ability to break free of defenders and advance the offense’s field position.
Javen Huddleston Javen Huddleston 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB Bowling Green | 2024 State KY , a 5-foot-11, 190-pound running back out of Bowling Green High School, is yet another talented athlete on the Purples’ roster, putting up major yardage this past season as a junior. In 13 contests, Huddleston helped lead Bowling Green’s ground game with 144 total rush attempts for 1,184 yards and 16 touchdowns. Huddleston is another tough running back with the speed to outrun even the most veteran defensive units in the state. All throughout the season, Huddleston has been able to find the openings and race down the field into the endzone.
