That Junior year is also, for most players a coming out party, where most coaches in your division or conference don’t have a lot of tape on you to prepare for. This list of players are those true hidden gems that I believe are going to shock the State and let people know their name real fast. From coming off an awesome JV campaign, or to being a role players last year on Varsity, watch these 2025 play a huge factor this fall.
Alexander Guadagni Alexander Guadagni 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Canton | 2025 State MI – Canton ATH @Alex_Guadagni06
This dude is the true definition of that “ATH” category that a lot of players try to say they fall under. He can play QB, RB, WR, DB, LB, KR, PR, heck even Punter and Kicker if need be. Alex is an absolute match up nightmare. Benching 250, Squat 400 and 4.6 40 yard dash, he causes a lot of trouble for most players trying to tackle him… that’s if they can catch him. Alex has been having a great off season so far, earning mvp honors at camps and I’m excited to watch him perform in the Legacy 7v7 league starting this weekend. Watch for the Chiefs of Canton to have a secret weapon this season with Guadagni.
Mason Chadwell Mason Chadwell 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Lansing Everett | 2025 State MI – Everett WR @Mason_Chadwell
Mason is literally a hidden gem. Due to transfer rules, Mason didn’t get to play last fall… but lucky for him, I’ve seen what he can do. Let me tell you, what he does… is embarrass DBs. Mason’s route runner is head shaking to any fan, scout or player who sees him. He’s an absolute wizards with his short routes but can stretch you vertically with the fade and post. Mason is going to be apart of a young core of athletes at Everett but don’t let their age fool you, these dudes can play. I’m excited to watch Chadwell play with Legacy Lansing’s 7v7 this winter and show everyone what I already know.
Ryan LaFear Ryan LaFear 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Anchor Bay | 2025 State MI – Anchor Bay QB @RyanLafear7
Ryan “Fearless” Lafear is a dawg. This QB understands, coverages, leverage, match-ups and can place the rock where it needs to be. Coming of a great JV campaign for Anchor Bay, Ryan is set to be the Signal Caller the next two seasons and man oh man did they hit the lotto. Timing, quick release, poise, and swagger are just some of the tools this dude has in his bag. I truly believe that Ryan is going to do big thing this coming up fall, but in the meantime excited to watch him this winter in 7v7.
Drew Rankin Drew Rankin 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB Northville | 2025 State MI – Northville ATH @DrewRankin8
Starting at CB the whole season as a Sophomore, Rankin played a big role on the Mustangs defense during their great D1 run last fall. The swagger on this dude is unmatched and will go toe-to-toe with anymore that wants the smoke. Currently playing DB with SMSB 7v7, the Northville native is truly a player who puts the work in. Entering his junior season this fall I see his role on the offensive side increasing and easily being one of the leaders on the defensive side. Huge fan of Drew’s game and during the 2023 season I think everyone in the state will be too.
