The latest 2025 rankings on Prep Redzone Oklahoma were released on Monday with the Top 100 for the state’s 2025 class. Throughout the week, we’ve been breaking down prospects throughout the rankings. From stock risers and newcomers to breakdowns by positions, it will be a busy week! So keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the week for more on the 2025 class. In this post, we’re putting a spotlight on some of the more versatile athletes in the state’s 2025 class. Nearly all five of these guys on this breakdown could play several different positions moving forward.
We kick off this breakdown with yet another Carl Albert Titan in sophomore Billy McDown Billy McDown 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR Edmond Memorial | 2025 State OK . We’ve already written about several of them this week. And we’ve said it before but we’ll say it again right now, the 2025 class at Carl Albert is special. We were told about McDown last summer and how versatile the young playmaker was but he was still growing. As mentioned before, we saw Carl Albert quite a bit in person and each time, it felt like McDown had gained an inch or so in his height and by the time the state championship rolled around, he no longer looked like a sophomore. McDown primarily played on defense in 2022 but he has the ability to be a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball as well. While we might be leaning to defense for him right now, it’s still too early to tell.

Last week, when we were breaking down some of the top 2026 prospects, there were a few that were highly rated but weren’t yet proven on the varsity level. You can make that argument for Union’s promising prospect Boston Carrasco Boston Carrasco 5’10” | 170 lbs | ATH Union | 2025 State OK . He started his high school career at Jenks and even got some playing time with the Trojans last fall. But towards the end of the regular season, Carrasco moved to Union and quickly picked up the offensive system. Carrasco is a very versatile offensive weapon that we’ve seen quite a bit during the spring of last year. There is a lot of talent there but it’s just finding the best and most valuable way to get the most out of him that will be important. Whether it’s at running back or wide receiver, we expect Carrasco to have a very big junior season this fall.

It was a good news, bad news kind of season for Rejoice Christian in 2022. The good news was they got to have their sophomore standout Cale Marley Cale Marley 5’9″ | 170 lbs | ATH Rejoice Christian | 2025 State OK get some meaningful football at quarterback, where he’ll be playing this fall. But the bad news was they lost their star quarterback Chance Wilson Chance Wilson 6’3″ | 185 lbs | QB Rejoice Christian | 2023 State OK for the second half of the regular season. Marley will be lining up at quarterback for the Eagles this fall but he is one of the best overall athletes int he class and he’s proven it already in just two seasons. On offense, he’s a dynamic weapon as we saw last year when he was at quarterback, accounting for over 200 yards and four touchdowns passing along with over 300 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. He’s also just as dangerous on defense and even in special teams.

Bishop McGuinness standout Marcus James Marcus James 6’3″ | ATH Carl Albert | 2025 State OK is the perfect description of an “athlete” when it comes to being a prospect for the next level. James is one of those prospects that when you see him in person, you get it. You don’t know exactly where he fits at the next level but you know he belongs. Right now, it seems like the top two choices are tight end or defensive end at the next level. At this point, we’re leaning to defense after watching James in person last season as well as watching him on the basketball floor this winter. He’s also a strong basketball player and he showcases his athleticism and burst every time we’ve watched him in person. He reminds us of some of the other basketball standouts that also ended up being some of the best defensive ends in their respective classes.
And our final versatile athlete is Putnam City West standout Mykel Ford Mykel Ford 5’11” | 160 lbs | ATH Putnam City West | 2025 State OK . Coming into the latest ranking evaluation, we had a lean towards the defensive side of the ball for Ford and specifically at cornerback. But after watching his film from his sophomore season, it’s definitely made things more confusing. Ford is an outstanding cornerback and we’re looking forward to seeing more of him playing at that position this spring during the 7v7 season. But on offense, Ford is an absolute playmaker. He just looks incredibly smooth with the ball in his hands and is deceptively fast. He’s one of those prospects that doesn’t look fast but keeps pulling away from defenders. Football guys know what we’re talking about. Ford is definitely a prospect to keep an eye on in the OKC area.
