This will be a tough task to decide who were the top-performing quarterbacks in the state since there were a lot who had an incredible 2022 season. Quarterbacks are always fun to watch because each quarterback plays in a unique way that makes them so talented on the football field. With that being said, I will present my list of Kentucky’s top-performing high school quarterbacks from the 2022 season, including some honorable mentions.
It is no surprise to anyone that Cutter would make this list. The 2025 grad once again put-up ridiculous numbers in his sophomore season, completing 63.5% of his passes for 3,901 passing yards & 36 passing touchdowns with 15 interceptions in 13 games played. The 4-star prospect continues to impress power five recruiters with his ridiculous arm strength & accuracy. Along with that, Cutter is one of the best in the business at throwing the ball perfectly when under lots of pressure. Although not really a dual-threat QB, Cutter can escape the pocket and run the ball for good yardage if needed. At this point in time, Cutter continues to gain praise from across the country with the best programs offering scholarships, and with 2 more years of football left, it will be interesting to see where he will end up.
Past Analysis: Cole is an extremely talented dual-threat quarterback that has an absolute cannon of an arm with a quick release that can toss it perfectly into the hands of the receiver. What is so special about Hodge is that he can make positive yardage no matter the situation. Because of that, Cole can throw on the run when under pressure and he is one of the better quarterbacks in the State who can scramble out of the pocket and run for yardage. His 500+ rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns are there to prove how talented he is at running the football. The junior has already received camp invites from power 5 schools and other local interests from colleges. I can not wait to see how Cole ends up performing once the season ends since he is only a junior and is already one of the most talented quarterbacks in the state.
End of Season:
This should also not be a surprise Cole Hodge Cole Hodge 6’2″ | QB Christian Academy Of Louisville | 2024 State KY made this list. The 2024 grad arguably had the best season out of all the quarterbacks in 2022, completing 73% of his passes for 2,949 passing yards & 48 passing touchdowns with only 4 interceptions in 15 games played. Cole did exceptionally well running the football too as he finished with 711 rushing yards & 9 rushing touchdowns (around 9.4 yards per carry!). It seemed that in nearly every play Cole had the ball, it was going to be a near guarantee he would make a play for his Christian Academy offense. His arm strength & accuracy improved despite a solid performance last year, and he seems to be much more comfortable making plays outside the pocket. The trait I like most about Cole is how much confidence & aggression he uses when he’s on the gridiron. Watching Cole’s film, he is not afraid of incoming pressure and is still able to complete difficult throws in tight-man coverage. Currently, Cole has been getting more interest from D1 schools and I expect he will continue to do so during his final season next year.
Brysen Dugger Brysen Dugger 6’2″ | 185 lbs | QB Pulaski County | 2023 State KY and Chandler Godby Chandler Godby 5’9″ | 170 lbs | WR Pulaski County | 2023 State KY were one the most exciting offensive duos to watch in the state of Kentucky this past season. Regarding Dugger, he had an extremely successful season for Pulaski County High School. In only 12 games played, Brysen completed 66.3% of his passes for 3,188 passing yards & 41 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions. Along with a lot of the other top-rated quarterbacks in Kentucky, Brysen is terrific at scrambling out of the pocket and reading the defensive positioning to get some extra yards on foot. But what I like most about Brysen is his mechanics. Watching him throwing the football with his great footwork & arm angle is a beauty to watch. It is also important to mention that Brysen has some impressive field vision that enables him to improvise with the football and still make big plays for his offense. At the end of his senior season, Brysen received a few offers from local colleges in Kentucky and I expect him to continue his football career playing at one of those schools.
Jackson is another great dual-threat quarterback that built a name for himself in his spectacular junior season at Lexington Catholic High School. In 13 games, Jackson completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,954 passing yards & 41 passing touchdowns with 7 interceptions. What I admire so much about Jackson Wasik Jackson Wasik 5’9″ | 140 lbs | QB Lexington Catholic | 2024 State KY ‘s game is his patience in the pocket and out of the pocket as well. It takes a lot of patience and focus to be able to find a successful place to throw when dealing with a lot of pressure coming from the opposing defense. For Jackson, none of those factors bother him as he can use his legs to escape the pressure and buy time to find an open receiver to throw to. Along with that, Jackson’s pocket passes are money every time with his great footwork that enables him to lock onto where he intends to throw. Even with multiple DBs headed toward his intended receiver, Jackson’s accurate throws from the pocket can hit his receivers in the right spot at the right time before the defense can get to them. Although I have not seen Jackson publicly announce more offers as of late, he currently holds an offer from September from Calumet College to play quarterback. However, I believe he will continue to add more collegiate interest once his senior season rolls around.
