The Prep Redzone Stock-Up Showcase returned to Colorado last night, and the turnout could not have been better.
Over 100 student-athletes in attendance showed up to put in work and show out. Some participants made the trip from various parts of the country to attend the showcase, which is a testament to the value of these events’ value.
The showcase started with combine testing, where the athletes got to record their broad jump distances and times in the 40-yard dash, shuttle, and L-drill. After the testing, the players were split into their position groups for individual drills before ending with some one-on-one competitions.
At the end of the event, one player from each position group was selected as the MVP of their position. This article will look at seven GameChangers who took home the title of most valuable player.
Austyn Modrzewski Austyn Modrzewski 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB Mountain Vista | 2025 State CO | Mountain Vista | 2025 QB
Modrzewski is a highly talented quarterback who finished the 2022 season as the state’s second-leading passer in total yards. He is a tall pocket passer who started to set himself apart from the rest of the quarterbacks during the individual drills. His adjustment to his throws and accurate ball placement during the routes-on-air and one-on-one portions of the event made a significant difference in the success of the reps. Modrzewski earning the MVP title for the quarterback group reinforces his status as a prospect with elite potential.
Carson Caplan Carson Caplan 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Pine Creek | 2024 State CO | Pine Creek | 2024 OL
Caplan is often one of the top offensive linemen whenever he attends a camp or showcase, and last night was no different. He is technically sound and does a fantastic job at timing his strikes and landing heavy hands on the defenders. His overall athleticism and advanced blocking techniques make him a formidable interior lineman for any would-be rusher to defeat. Caplan stood out during the entire event, making it no surprise when his name was called for the MVP for the offensive line group.
Jeremiah Hoffman Jeremiah Hoffman 6'1" | 170 lbs | WR Severance | 2025 State CO | Severance | 2025 WR
Hoffman was one of the more electrifying players in the building from beginning to end. He blew the combine testing out of the water, clocking some of the top times in multiple events. His 40-yard dash times were so impressive that the coaches had him run a third time just to verify the legitimacy of his 4.47s time on his second run, and he clocked a 4.5 on two watches. Hoffman continued to shine in the individual drills, routes on air, and one-on-one competitions. With the number of talented receivers in attendance, Hoffman set himself apart from the pack and stood out to come away with the MVP award for the receivers.
James Basinger James Basinger 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Columbine | 2025 State CO | Columbine | 2025 RB
Basinger has been a high-flyer on the radar since the summer leading into his sophomore year. Since then, he has continued to put on size while refining his skill set. His explosive running abilities have a well-balanced mixture of speed, elusiveness, and power, making him a problematic runner to contain. He stood out during the entire camp, but he drew attention in a blocking drill while going up against some elite linebacker competition. Basinger winning the MVP title for the running back group was no shocker, especially since he earned MVP following the previous Stock-Up Showcase.
Ethan Bird Ethan Bird 6'3" | 190 lbs | DL Littleton | 2023 State CO | Littleton | 2023 DE
Bird is a talented athlete with great size and athleticism. His development during the last year has transformed his game tenfold, both physically and mentally. He moves exceptionally well for a player with his frame and displays excellent power and explosiveness when firing off the line. What really helped him stand out was his understanding of the game and how to apply that to his techniques. Bird is another two-time MVP winner from these showcases, solidifying the legitimacy of his status as a true sleeper.
Omari Bursey Omari Bursey 6'1" | 225 lbs | LB Legacy | 2024 State CO | Legacy | 2024 LB
Bursey is a player who immediately passes the eye test for all of the right reasons. His ability to flow in any direction with great power and speed is extremely impressive. He had a great showing in every drill, especially when it came to the one-on-one portion of the event. During the drill where the running backs had to block while the linebackers worked to defeat the blocks, Bursey showed off his formidable power and quickness. His ability to defend against the pass is just as dominant as his skills to defend against the run. Bursey is a top-tier prospect with elite potential, making his MVP status well deserved.
Deion Giles Ray | Denver East | 2025 DB
Giles Ray is a young player with an incredibly bright future. He is a safety who has been on the radar since he was in middle school, and he appears to consistently take leaps forward with his development. His movements as a defensive back are sharp, and he does a great job of staying within his frame when backpedaling, weaving, and flipping his hips. He stood out during the individual drills and the competitions but really set himself apart during one-on-ones. Giles Ray is no stranger to hard work and tough competition, which helped him earn the MVP title for the defensive back group.
