Bursey is a baller. The senior from Legacy measures in at 6’1 225 pounds. Good size for a linebacker who also plays running back. Throughout the season he accounted for 99 total tackles (81 solo, 18 assisted) 22 TFL, 8 sacks, 2 interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries. Bursey has very good athletic ability, which allows him to play multiple positions and succeed. He has very good speed, acceleration and change of direction. Very good strength as well. Powerful downhill hitter who happens to be a very good tackler. Demonstrates good mental processing by identifying gaps and rushing them. Good at rushing the QB and creating extra pressure. He’s very good in zone coverage. Will follow the QB’s eyes and allow him to get interceptions or lead him to the ball carrier. Good ball catcher as well. Good competitive toughness combined with a high motor has him playing after the whistle and giving it his all. Fantastic player who deserves more eyes on him.

Bursey is a backer that is able to use his quickness and strength to impact the game for his team. He is great at being able to shed tackles and rally to the football or he can navigate through, using his speed to get around blockers and making plays. When playing the run he is quick to find the hole and meet the ball carrier, driving them back and not giving up ground. He sees screens quickly and can get to the intended receiver quickly, bringing them down for no gain. You constantly see him using his speed to chase the play down from behind and getting the stop in the backfield. At times, shows soft hands being able to come down with the ball, taking it the opposite direction and make a house call.

Bursey is a head-turning linebacker whose stock value as a recruit has rapidly increased during the last year. He initially popped up on the radar at a camp because of his uncanny ability to quickly read his keys and fly downhill to initiate contact with the ball carrier in the backfield. His ability to defeat blocks and finish the play with power and bad intentions is nothing less than impressive. Bursey’s ability to secure the interior of the box by being able to move laterally just as efficiently as he flies downhill has helped to earn him an offer from Lindenwood, the first of many.
