If there is anything that stimulates the five senses more in a human being, look no further that the game of football. Believe it or not, these priceless moments are only weeks away, and it is only a matter of time before foot-ballers from across the state will be making a name for themselves. Without further ado, let’s introduce the playmakers to watch for that will be dropping jaws this fall.
An extremely solid and fundamentally sound football player from reigning three-time state champion Cherry Creek, offensive tackle Hayden Treter Hayden Treter 6’7″ | 325 lbs | OL Cherry Creek | 2024 State CO plays the game with a paramount intensity that is tough to match. While the anchor of the Bruins offensive line will be taking his talents to Southern California next fall, head coach Dave Logan can find solace in the passing and running game thanks to Treter’s elite pass and run blocking. All in all, there are very few lineman like Treter within the state of Colorado that can instantly make your jaw drop.

Without a doubt, Nkongolo Wa-Kalonji Nkongolo Wa-Kalonji 6’4″ | 185 lbs | DL Grandview | 2024 State CO is an absolute nightmare for opposing offenses. Standing at a sturdy 6’4″and weighing in at roughly 200 pounds, the one thing that stands out about Wa-Kalonji’s game is his quick first step. Already a track star at Grandview High School, the recent Air Force commit racked up 62 tackles in only nine games played as a junior. After the Wolves were able to make a deep run in the postseason a year ago, don’t be alarmed if Wa-Kalonji puts on an absolute clinic en route to a breakout season by also helping Grandview make some noise come playoff time.

Believe it or not, but wideout Jeremiah Hoffman Jeremiah Hoffman 6’1″ | 170 lbs | WR Severance | 2025 State CO may be faster than a knife fight in a phone booth. With multiple colleges across the country showing their interest for the playmaking receiver out of Severance High School, it is no coincidence that Hoffman is considered one of and if not the top pass-catcher in the Class of 2025. Alas, the main thing that makes Hoffman stand out from his peers is his undeniable talent to change speeds in and out of his breaks. Any average receiver possesses stellar straight-line speed, but the ones that separate themselves from the rest of the pack are speedy when attacking defenders and creating separation. Indeed, Hoffman was born to be out on the gridiron.

Ryken Duagaard
Ryken Duagaard
Possibly a surgeon in a past life with the way he us able to dissect opposing defenses, Mr. Duagaard out of Lutheran High School can certainly spin the pigskin with the best of them. When the pads come on and the chin-straps are buckled, Duagaard has demonstrated that he can put on a show with the utmost passing excellency. During the 2022 season, the class of 2024 standout put himself on the map by completing 65% of his passes en route to 27 touchdown strikes through the air and only throwing nine interceptions. Although considered a pure pocket passer for the most part, Duagaard can extend plays with his legs at times and is not afraid to throw darts from on the run. Overall, his high football IQ helps him to make good decisions when going through his progressions and has the type of prototypical build you look for in a signal caller.

Xavier Ramirez Xavier Ramirez RB Roosevelt | 2024 State CO
Xavier Ramirez Xavier Ramirez RB Roosevelt | 2024 State CO
From a sheer statistcial standpoint, Xavier Ramirez Xavier Ramirez RB Roosevelt | 2024 State CO cannot be beat. Leading all state-eligible rushers in 2022 with an unthinkable 30 touchdowns on the ground, Ramirez was also able to eclipse more than 2,000 yards rushing as the focal point of the Roosevelt High School offense. Simply put, it would be bonkers if Ramirez could once again reach these heights. Undoubtedly, Ramirez is a shifty jitterbug with no fear to lower his shoulder to pick up tough-earned yardage. Did I mention that he tallied 13 100-yard games in 2022? This kid is a bonafide difference-maker and will once again be a star when the new season kicks off.

Another fellow receiving threat with the expertise of hauling in target after target, WR Micah Lumpkin Micah Lumpkin 6’0″ | WR Sierra | 2024 State CO could be one of the top receiving prospects that the Class of 2024 has to offer. An exemplary 6’2 body that can jump up and pinpoint the football, Lumpkin also excels at running after the catch and shedding tackles left and right. However, the most fruitful part of Lumpkin’s game is his contributions as a blocker. He is clearly known for his dependability on the end of some big passing plays, but throwing out key blocks like he did a year ago totally elevates his overall game to the next level.

To make a long story short, Omari Bursey Omari Bursey 6’1″ | 225 lbs | LB Legacy | 2024 State CO is a man on a mission when he laces up his cleats and takes the field for play. Possessing game changing, next level speed, strength, and instincts, there is a reason why Bursey is the second-rated linebacker in the Centennial State. His special playing ability can be pointed to being a heavy hitter in run support and has also showcased the necessary hack in providing stellar pass coverage when called upon. To summarize, Bursey will be unleashing the beast at a local field near you in the coming months.
