About James
Expert Analysis
Elijah Bonner | Prep Redzone Scout
James finished 6th among backs in yards with 1,743 yards on 219 carries and insane 25 touchdowns, but on this list, he was 3rd because what he did to Heritage Ealges can’t be overstated. On September 27th, James bolted out the gate with a 61-yard touchdown and diced up the defense with 24 carries for 300 yards and four TDs.

Basinger had a dominating night against A.W. The 5’10 195-pound senior had 20 carries for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns. First thing I notice with Basinger is his strength. He’s compact and strong making it tough for defenders to tackle him. He has very good balance. Basinger got ankle tackled, stayed up, spun and got the touchdown. He uses his powerful legs to drive through defenders, or drag them on his back. Basinger also has a powerful stiff arm. He threw down 2 guys in the same play. Basinger has very good vision to identify the holes. Prototypical bruising running back to punish the defense.

Basinger is an extremely talented running back who built a reputation as a top talent in his class. He is a powerful runner who does an excellent job of running between the tackles with low pad height. He is the type of runner who hits holes with dominating power and explosive cuts before hitting an extra gear when in space. Basinger has consistently been one of the top prospects in the state, making him a player to invest in immediately.

himself. With tremendous balanced speed and power, Basinger once again showed off his playmaking skills by dominating one-on-one drills while also displaying splendid footwork in the cone exercises. Believe it or not, Basinger was named an MVP for the third consecutive time as a Propsect Tour participant and the sky is truly the limit on the football field for this young man.

Basinger had one of the top performances on the day and was able to walk away with his 3rd RB MVP. This is a kid oozing out the seams with potential and will be kicking down the door to a P5. At the prospect tour he was able to show how dynamic he can be. He was playing with speed and garnishing a lot of attention whenever he went out on a route. He had defenders locking in on him and was able to get other players open because of it. In routes he showed soft hands, looking comfortable and like a receiver coming down with catches outside of his frame. In indy he was explosive and showed why he is one of the top backs in the state, being a master of his craft. Will be a player to watch for the next couple of years to see if he breaks the door down to P5 schools.

Basinger is no stranger to the spotlight, earning the running back MVP title at all three Prep Redzone events held in the state. He is an immediate standout who turns heads instantly. The two-way athlete from Columbine excelled in the defensive back drills just as much as he did with the running backs. His power, speed, and unmatched competitive mentality set him apart as one of the top players in the building. Hearing Basinger’s name get called for the MVP title was no surprise, just like his future as a highly recruited prospect will not shock anyone who has laid eyes on him.
