The first of two seniors that have been incredibly important to Millwood over the last few seasons has been offensive and defensive lineman Carlos Strong Carlos Strong 6’1″ | 240 lbs | DL Millwood | 2023 State OK . The senior along the line of scrimmage has been the anchor for an offensive line that has paved the way for the Falcons to be successful in the run game. He’s also turned around and been one of the top interior defensive linemen in Class 2A this season. Strong had a very great junior season and has continued to build on that this season as a senior. Strong is very important to Millwood’s turnaround this season and while the Falcons have some serious firepower that we’ll dive into with the next several players, Strong is the foundation for what they are able to do on the offensive and defensive side.
The future is bright at Millwood as they have been starting a freshman at quarterback since the first game of the season and he’s only gotten better the more time he’s been under center. We were in the house when quarterback CJ Turnbull CJ Turnbull 6’3″ | 190 lbs | QB Millwood | 2026 State OK got his first start for the Falcons at quarterback and he was incredibly impressive that night and has only gotten better since. There’s no doubt that Turnbull has some excellent weapons around him on the offensive side of the ball but he also has a cannon of an arm. You also can’t count out the athleticism he plays with and that will certainly help as Washington’s strength on the defensive side of the ball is up front and they will be trying to get after the quarterback.
Highlights
The rise of Millwood sophomore wide receiver Jaden Nickens Jaden Nickens 6’4″ | WR Douglass | 2025 State OK is one of the more intriguing storylines from the last six months. Back in March, Nickens was helping lead Millwood to a basketball championship and was considered the top basketball prospect in the state’s 2025 class. In May, Nickens participated in spring drills for the football team and after a handful of practices, already had several D1 offers, without ever playing a game. In his first season playing, Nickens has continued to raise his stock as a football prospect, quickly becoming a true national prospect. It’s very similar to the story of Bixby’s Luke Hasz Luke Hasz 6’4″ | TE Bixby | 2023 State OK . Nickens has been basketball-first but after just a short time on the gridiron, has already been named an Under Armour All American.
One of the more versatile players in this match-up is Millwood’s junior Micho Lavine Micho Lavine 6’3″ | 210 lbs | ATH Millwood | 2024 State OK . After missing almost all of his sophomore season with a knee injury, Lavine has come back this season and provided a massive spark for the Falcons on both sides of the ball. When we first saw Lavine, he really impressed us as a running back but has moved around this season, playing multiple positions. When we checked out Millwood earlier this season, Lavine jumped off the charts as a defensive end, getting into the backfield at will. On offense, Lavine has shined as a running back and tight end and overall power player with the ball in his hands. As a prospect, we’re starting to lean towards defense for Lavine but we’re excited to see him in person again this weekend.
One of the best players in the state over the last few years has been Rickey Hunt Jr Rickey Hunt Jr 6’0″ | 175 lbs | RB Millwood | 2023 State OK and he’s looking to cap off an impressive career with a state championship. Since his freshman season, Hunt has made a massive impact on both sides of the ball for the Falcons. He’s played just about every skill position on offense and you might even see him do that again on Saturday as the Falcons pull out all the stops to get that gold ball. Committed to Ohio, not only is Hunt one of the better players in the state but he’s firmly established himself as one of the best prospects in the state’s 2023 class. And just like with Nickens, Hunt already got a taste of championship success earlier this year when the Falcons captured a state championship in basketball back in March.
