Continue ReadingJudah Byrams Judah Byrams 5’8″ | RB Victory Christian | 2023 State OK plays way beyond his size. What he lacks in his stature, he makes up for with heart. He took one hand off or pitch after another throughout the night and attacked the defense head on. Time and time again, he showed fearlessness as he ran up the middle. He also showed the ability to get to the sidelines or to catch a ball along the sidelines and turn nothing into something. One example of this is when his team faced 3rd and 25. On this play, he took the handoff, broke to the sidelines, juked a couple of defenders, and gained 30 yards on the play. He has a lot of power to truck over guys or to carry a pile, but he also showed the ability to juke out opponents. This kind of heart and play rewarded him in the stats column, as he ended the game with five rushing touchdowns. One of the touchdowns solidified the game with just under two minutes left. On 4th and 3, his team went for it and handed off to him. The defense was right, but he broke their tackles. He went on to score a 45 yard touchdown run to expand the lead to 34-22. This is a player that has power, heart, and fearlessness. His performance was amazing to watch, as he ended the game with almost 200 rushing yards.
Ayden Hamilton
Ayden Hamilton
Ayden Hamilton put an absolute show! Going into Kiefer to take on the undefeated Trojans with the district championship on the line, Hamilton delivered. He eclipsed 100 yards rushing and passing- in the first half. He has speed and elusiveness, as he juked one defender after another. There were so many times that the pocket collapsed and he was able to avoid getting sacked, by dodging the defenders and turning it into a gain. His quick first step made him lethal on quarterback draws and sneaks, as he would be gone instantly. It was a regular occurrence for him to run for 10, 15, 20, and even 25 yards or more. There was one play that he juked two defenders in the backfield and ran for 25 yards. He is not just a runner, as he has solid power behind his passes and the accuracy to match. He executed time and time again with perfectly placed passes in the mid area, 10-40 yards down field. He was not afraid to take shots down field, but he mainly executed in the short to mid area down the field. His passing was not just in the pocket, as he showed the ability to roll out to the left or right and make a beautiful pass down field. He showed the ability to do everything at the quarterback position, despite being listed as a wide receiver on the roster. I talked to him after the game and he has zero offers. This is definitely a kid worth taking a look at, if this is how he consistently plays.
Justiz Pendergraft
Justiz Pendergraft
Justiz Pendergraft left his mark on both sides of the ball. He showed some power as a running back, carrying the ball up the middle and carrying players for extra yardage and ending with eight carries for 53 yards and a touchdown. On the defensive end is where he did the most damage. He used speed, power, and finesse to end with 11 tackles (6 solo and 5 assist). Five of those were tackles for a loss, with two of them being sacks. He blew up the offensive line multiple times with his speed and was instantly in the backfield. There was one play that he was tackling the running back on an option as soon as the ball touched the running backs hands on a handoff. It was impressive watching him contribute on both sides of the field.
Joshua Taylor
Joshua Taylor
Joshua Taylor did not have the most appealing statistics, but he came up with big plays and impressive catches over the course of the game. Multiple times, he dove and caught the ball right before it hit the ground to come up with a big play for a first down. He showed the ability to rise up and catch a ball that was overthrown. There were several times that he caught a ball down the field for 15, 20, and even 25 yards. He executed well in the mid area of the field, but showed the ability to catch short passes and gain a few extra yards. He does not have blistering speed, but his size helped him be tough on the defenders.
