Throughout the month of October, we had an update to our prospect rankings. Three weeks ago, we released our first watch list for the 2026 class. The first rankings for that class will come out in January. Two weeks ago, it was all about the 2025 class. We’ve updated those rankings to feature the top 75 sophomores in the state. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. Last week, we took a look at some of the top juniors in Oklahoma with an update to the 2024 rankings. You can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. This week, we finish up the ranking breakdowns with a look at the 2023 rankings. You can check out the Top 200 Seniors RIGHT HERE.
In this post, we’re taking a look at some of the absolute best wide receivers in the state’s 2023 class. Stay tuned throughout the week for more 2023 prospect breakdowns.
Coming into the 2022 football season, we had a couple players circled as potential breakout players across the state in the various classes. One of those players in Class 6A-1 was Owasso senior wide receiver Anthony Hills Anthony Hills 6’2″ | WR Owasso | 2023 State OK . After watching him during the spring and summer, seeing the size and skill he plays the position with, Hills looked like a serious candidate to enjoy a breakout season. And that’s exactly what has happened this season, even though it didn’t come according to plan. With star wide receiver Cole Adams Cole Adams 6’0″ | WR Owasso | 2023 State OK going down in the season opener, Hills has turned into the leading receiver on this Owasso team. He leads the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns and has definitely raised his stock as a wide receiver prospect in this class.
For the second straight season, Noble wide receiver Brandon Harper Brandon Harper 5’10” | 165 lbs | WR Noble | 2023 State OK is not only one of the top receivers in Class 5A, he’s one of the leading receivers in the state. There’s no doubt that he’s the top target within the Noble offense and he has put together some serious performances over the last two seasons. Whether it’s being the leading receiver or also making an impact in the return game, Harper is a prospect that has continued to rise up our boards in a big way. He had a fantastic offseason coming off that stellar junior season. And he’s been one of the top playmakers in Class 5A this season. He definitely benefits from having one of the best quarterbacks in the state throwing him the rock in Colin Fisher Colin Fisher 6’3″ | 200 lbs | QB Noble | 2023 State OK but Harper has been lights out with the ball in his hands.
Highlights
Lincoln Christian has weapons everywhere. On both sides of the ball, they have several legitimate college prospects and one of their better offensive prospects is wide receiver Cam Dooley Cam Dooley 6’1″ | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Christian | 2023 State OK . Like several other skill position players, we’ve definitely benefitted from seeing Dooley quite a bit in the last two years while he played with Sooner 7 in the offseason. This season, Dooley is just one of many weapons that Lincoln Christian uses on the offensive side of the ball. He’s in a very balanced offense that doesn’t have just one player that stuffs the stat sheet. But Dooley runs good routes, has great hands and knows how to make a play on the ball no matter what the coverage is doing. He’s definitely a receiver to keep an eye on this winter.
Highlights
We’ve made this statement quite a bit over the last year or so and we’ll be honest, just like with Dooley, seeing Verdigris wide receiver Dalton Person Dalton Person 5’10” | 150 lbs | WR Verdigris | 2023 State OK in the offseason playing 7v7 has boosted our opinion of him. But we believe that Person has some of the best hands in the state of Oklahoma. Out of the ten prospects on this breakdown, Person is one of the smallest wide receivers on the list. It doesn’t matter. Watch him play and watch him make catch after catch. If the ball is remotely close, he finds a way to make a catch and come down with the ball. We understand that there will be concerns with his size at the next level. But again, we don’t care and it doesn’t matter. Person has been undersized the last two years and it hasn’t stopped him.
Highlights
We mentioned this with Lincoln Christian and we’ll bring it up again with Bixby standout Jakeb Snyder Jakeb Snyder 5’10” | 170 lbs | WR Bixby | 2023 State OK . The Spartans have weapons everywhere. So Snyder’s numbers aren’t as high as some of the other wide receivers on this breakdown. Snyder has been one of the more consistent playmakers for Bixby since his sophomore season. Snyder shines on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and cornerback. And then he also stands out as a kick returner. Snyder has made some plays over the last two seasons that has turned plenty of heads. And with Bixby being one of the top teams in the state, year after year, he’s had plenty of eye balls on him. And he’ll have a national stage to perform on Thursday night as the Spartans play Jenks in a game that will be on ESPN2.

Yet another wide receiver that I feel like we’ve seen quite a bit over the last two years is Choctaw wideout Jax Smith Jax Smith 6’1″ | 195 lbs | WR Choctaw | 2023 State OK . Not only has he teamed up with the top quarterback in the state’s 2023 class for school ball. But he’s joined Steele Wasel Steele Wasel 6’4″ | 210 lbs | QB Choctaw | 2023 State OK in the last few offseasons while playing with Sooner 7. That work has definitely helped the two Yellowjacket teammates develop a chemistry that is hard to match in this class and in 6A-2 in general. Like some of the other standouts on this breakdown, Smith doesn’t wow you with his production in terms of stats. Choctaw spreads the ball around every single week. But Smith does all the little things correct on the football field. He’s a very physical player that also excels in blocking for his teammates down the field.
The only committed prospect on this breakdown is Mustang wide receiver Keegan Bass Keegan Bass 5’9″ | 175 lbs | WR Mustang | 2023 State OK . The Mustang standout committed to Air Force over the summer and Air Force is getting an absolute steal. Bass is one of the more dynamic slot receivers in the state. We’ve watched him quite a bit over the last nine months and he’s impressed us every time he steps on the field. There’s no other way to describe it, he’s always open. Bass routinely finds a way to get open time after time. His junior year was cut short due to an injury but once he was cleared earlier this year, he came back and started making up for lost time immediately. Also a basketball standout, Bass is one of the better two-sport players in the state’s 2023 class and he’s focused on helping Mustang make another run in the playoffs.
Highlights
One of the new wide receivers in the latest ranking update is Madill wideout Stephen Sisco Stephen Sisco 6’0″ | 190 lbs | WR Madill | 2023 State OK . He has absolutely exploded this season after being a solid player the last two years. This year, he’s been one of the best wide receivers in Class 4A. Coming into this season, he had nearly 1,200 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career. This season alone, he’s closing in on the 1,200 yard mark and has 17 touchdowns. Madill has had the unfortunate luck of being in one of the tougher districts in the state that also features Ada, Broken Bow, Hilldale and Poteau, who have all spent time in the top ten. But despite that, Sisco has still performed incredibly well this season, especially against Broken Bow and Poteau earlier this season. Sisco has been a fast riser on the WR chart.
Highlights
A lot of what was written about Sisco at Madill can be replicated right here with Enid wide receiver Tykie Andrews Tykie Andrews 6’0″ | WR Enid | 2023 State OK . Coming into this season, Andrews was on our radar and had been a solid wide receiver up to that point. He had some good performances at Enid in the past and we had covered Andrews quite a bit in the offseason while he played with Sooner 7. But this season, Andrews has kicked it into another level. He’s become one of the top players in 6A-1 this season. He’s been a touchdown machine and has rewritten the record book at Enid. And like Sisco, not only is Andrews producing, but he’s producing against strong competition. And that’s what separates a good high school football player and a good college prospect. Andrews is both.
It seems like every time we write about the 2022 Jenks Trojans, we’re having to mention the injury issues that rattled the team throughout the year. Yet another 2023 prospect that had to sit out half of this season with nagging hamstring problems was senior wide receiver Ty Walls Ty Walls 6’0″ | 175 lbs | WR Jenks | 2023 State OK . He came into this season as Jenks’ leading receiver from a year ago, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards as a junior, which hasn’t happened very often at Jenks. Walls is now finally healthy and has started making up for lost time as a wide receiver and even on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive back. Walls is looking to get back the momentum he had going at the end of last season and into the offseason. He and the Trojans are playing good football at the right time.
