The Offseason is near, meaning college coaches will again be on the prowl to find their next star recruits. Ohio’s class of 2024 has so many hidden gems in this class, and it’s time that we shed some light on some of these prospects. Let’s look at some 2024 athletes who will see their stock rise.
Always feel free to submit the film to me via Twitter or Email: Link
Amon Haynes – Toledo Scott
Amon is an exceptional athlete on both sides of the football, and his stock has risen since the beginning of the season. Haynes is one of the best football players in the Toledo City League and has proved that week in and week out with big-time performances as a running back and making even bigger plays on the defensive side of the ball along with special teams. Amon can gain a lot of notoriety this off-season if he gains weight and gets stronger. Lot’s of upside for this tough athlete in scholarship opportunities. Haynes has over ten touchdowns on the season and nearly 1,000 yards rushing; that’s good enough for the best in the league and his team. His play this season has put his team in a position to win the outright league title, something they haven’t done since the 1970s. Keep your eye on him because this fast and Shifty back will start taking notice from college coaches soon.
Jack Sammarco Jack Sammarco 6'6" | 230 lbs | TE Anderson | 2024 State OH – Walnut Hills
Jack is used in various ways within the offense at Walnut Hills. He is listed as a tight end and defensive end, but he seems to make most of his plays from the outside as a boundary receiver or as the X. Jack has good hands to make great catches look easy and does a great job as a possession receiver for the offense. Typically, if you’re listed on the depth chart as TE, it’s because of a couple of things: you have the size and toughness, and Jack has both of those things going for him. You can watch it when you see his ability to bury defenders in the run game, but you can also tell that he enjoys blocking and takes pride in it. He has been on several college visits this fall, already holding multiple division one offers, and with the playoffs and the offseason ahead of him, this is a prospect to keep on your board.
Malik Kamara Malik Kamara 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Central Crossing | 2024 State OH – Central Crossings
When I opened the film, I did not know what to expect, but Kamara is a division one prospect. Great speed confirmed with this track PRs from the spring posting a 55-second 400m dash. On the football field, he shows his explosiveness through extended kick returns for touchdowns, physical hits on defense, and explosive running style on offense. Kamara has a great IQ. He sees the football field well, has a lot of upside at the next level, and can play multiple positions. Malik is a natural athlete and will gain a lot of attention shortly once college coaches see what he can do on and off the field. I don’t see many Columbus area athletes, but he will be on my watchlist.
Keegan Sell Keegan Sell 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Garfield | 2024 State OH – Garfield
What I like most about Ohio football are the tough athletes that come out of this great state. Keegan is a very physical football player who enjoys making contact with offensive or defensive players. There’s no shortage of toughness as he plays MLB along with fullback; those are the grittiest football players on the field. He embodies that. With that toughness come speed, athleticism, and his love for the game. Sell has some of the best closing speed I’ve seen from the linebacker position this season, and on offense, his acceleration helps them get touchdowns. With over 25 colleges in the state of Ohio, I’m sure he’ll be here from quite a few of them as he looks to complete this monster season that he was having with a bang. You can also expect him to move up in the next prep RedZone rankings. He is that good.
