Recruiting Roundup: Buckeye State Stars Land Big August Offers

Several prospects in Ohio are picking up their first offers, making verbal commitments, and visiting schools as the college season looms large. Here are four players who received offers or made verbal commitments over the past couple of weeks:

We've spotlighted Ayden Dunlap a few times, but it's for good reason: the 5-foot-11, 170-pound corner from Gahanna Lincoln opened the season with a strong game, flashing very good and physical coverage skills, breaking on the ball, flashing speed to take it to the house after interceptions and fumbles, and good lateral movement skills, earning an offer from Bowling Green.

There may not be a hotter 2028 recruit in the Midwest than Cash Patrick - a 6-foot-5, 280-pound two-way lineman from Celina, a small town in western Ohio. Patrick is a relentless blocker whose toughness oozes on tape. Flashing a mean streak with a strong size-speed combination and a quick first step, he shines on both sides of the ball. Offers from UConn and Virginia Tech have come recently. We look forward to getting an in-person look in a couple of weeks.

Sometimes all it takes is one performance to land an offer from college coaches, and that is certainly the case with Princeton tailback Jordan Hall. The big, bruising running back and Miami-Ohio ran all over Archbishop Moeller for 176 yards and three touchdowns in the opener, earning big-time opportunities from Penn State, UConn, Wake Forest, Cincinnati and Maryland. Hall has a great combination of size and speed coveted by college coaches.

Trotwood Madison Class of 2028 defensive lineman Jameer Whyce has the goods. Flashing good first-step quickness, ability to take on double team blocks, taking great angles to the ball and possessing great foot speed, Whyce has been dominant so far this year, earning offers from Missouri, Texas A&M and Michigan who have entered the chat this month. Committed to Ohio State, but teams may try to flip him heading into the spring.
