Both teams were 3-2 heading into the matchup and it was set up to be one heck of a game. Not only was this a back-and-forth game with momentum swings but it went down to the FINAL play with TWO seconds left in the game. Lincoln-Way West was down by 6 with two seconds left in the game taking the snap around the 35-yard line. In the final play, Standout Cole Crafton Cole Crafton 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Lincoln Way West | 2024 State IL got flushed out of the pocket and saw green grass in front of him so he pulled the ball down to scramble and fell short of the endzone resulting in the Porters coming away with a 34 to 28 win over the Warriors. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the Warriors that caught my eye. Let’s dive into it.

rnMr. Crafton is currently committed to play D1 Baseball at Louisville and his skill set there translates well to the gridiron. This young man is able to add good zip on the ball and to the eye has impressive spin rate – I’m interested to see exactly what that number looks like. He can also add a touch on the deep ball and fit the ball in tight spots only where his receivers can go up to get it. Throughout countless plays Friday night, his receivers had to high point the ball to secure contested catches to keep drives going. What stands out the most about this young man is his awareness to avoid pocket pressure by either sliding to get the ball off or pulling the ball down to scramble. When he does scramble, he’s not afraid to lower his shoulder to run defenders over. This was on full display late in the game as he added two rushing TDs to his two passing TD performance to finish with four on the night. If you don’t know about Cole Crafton Cole Crafton 6’3″ | 210 lbs | QB Lincoln Way West | 2024 State IL , you do now. This young man has a very bright future in both baseball and football, be sure to get a look now before all the football offers come rolling in. Twitter
Highlights
Mr. Poholik does a good job sustaining his run blocks creating running lanes for the ball carrier when blocking in-line. Where he shines the most is in terms of his pass protection. Here, he does a good job of mirroring the rushing defenders and using a quick punch to get inside hand placement before locking out to tie up the rushing defender. His foundational skill set in pass pro is one to keep an eye on for the rest of his high school career, as he continues to build upon it this young man has the potential to be a top O-Lineman in the State once it’s all said and done. rnMr. Kachinsky is another standout baseball player that gets it done on the gridiron as well. This young man is currently committed to play D1 baseball at Western Illinois University and brought his athleticism to the field Friday night hauling in 2 TDs on the night. For both, he had to high point the ball to secure the contested catch in the endzone. The above picture is him securing his second TD on the night and talk about a worthy shot showcasing his talents. What stands out the most about this young man is his long catch radius which comes in handy during redzone downs being a go-to target for Cole Crafton Cole Crafton 6’3″ | 210 lbs | QB Lincoln Way West | 2024 State IL . For the rest of the fall season keep an eye on this connection as it was up and running Friday night. Twitter

Mr. Howard is a new name to me this fall season and one that had a solid performance on defense for the Warriors. Throughout the game, he had two good sticks on the ball carrier one coming in pass coverage and the other coming in run support. The first was on a halfback screen where he disengages the receiver block to blow up the halfback. The second came later in the game when the QB escaped the pocket and pulled the ball down to scramble on a third-down play. This young man was able to close on the scrambling QB and delivered a heavy hit forcing a fourth down. His hard-hitting ability was on full display and is a trait to watch for the remainder of this fall season. If I’m a ball carrier, I’m going to be keeping my head on a swivel when I’m running towards this young man’s side of the field. All in all, this young man has the potential to become a heavy-hitting defensive back at the next level.
Mr. Rowswell can work both out of the slot and on the outside in the Warrior’s offense. When he works out of the slot, he flashes his quickness off the line to gain inside release and caps it off by securing the catch in traffic – on more than one occasion. He can also line up on the outside to run receiver screens. Both of which he flashes his foot quicks to him once he gets vertical upon securing the catch. This young man was on the watchlist heading into this fall season, look for him to crack into the rankings once the season is concluded. Twitter
Nathan Passas
Nathan Passas
rnMr. Passas is another receiver in this receiving core that was able to come up big for the Warrior’s offense. In this picture depicted above, he was able to fully extend to secure the catch showcasing his catch radius. He then held onto the ball after taking a hit from two defenders keeping the chains moving. What I’m interested to see more out of this young man is him utilizing his long catch radius to secure tough catches like the one shown above. He shows he has the ability to do so, interested to see how consistently he can do so. Twitter
Wesley Bierma
Wesley Bierma
Mr. Bierma has a big frame and solid hands that he showcased Friday night. This young man flashes his ability to box out defenders in zone coverage to be an outlet for his quarterback. He also flashes his ability to find soft spots in zone coverage. There were a few instances late in the game where he was targeted on a high pass flashing his catch radius as well. All in all, this young man has the potential to be a safety valve for his QB both when he’s under pressure and to stay ahead of the sticks. Twitter
