Continue ReadingAnthony Watson Anthony Watson 6’0″ | 220 lbs | ATH Muskogee | 2024 State OK was flat out impressive and caught my eye right away. He came up with one big play after another to light up Booker T Washington. No matter if he was using a quick burst off of the line to catch a ball for 40 yards or to run the ball for 30 yards, it showed that nobody can keep up with him. He is elusive, but also has power to him. There was one play that he broke off of the line and past the defense, which resulted in him drawing pass interference in the end zone. What was even more impressive to me is the fact that he was dominating on the defensive side of the ball as well. He chased down the running back, broke through the offensive line to hammer the quarterback, and just left his mark on the game. This showed with a reflection in the score, to where they won 30-6. This is against a team that outscored their opponents 127-0 over the previous two weeks. It is not coincidental that they are undefeated and have outscored opponents 363-102 over the first eight games.
Highlights
Jamarian Ficklin Jamarian Ficklin 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Muskogee | 2025 State OK was impressive and showed why he is currently ranked #7 in the class of 2025. Despite getting injured in the second quarter and missing a couple of series, he came back in. When he got injured, he had to be helped off, but did not show any flashes of that injury when he returned. He has a fairly quick release, good power, and solid accuracy. On a two-point conversion, he quickly went through his progessions and delivered a bullet for a completion. Things like this is what I noticed time and time again throughout the game. He shows maturity with how he plays the game- never being rattled, poised, or rushed. His accuracy showed that he is good at leading receivers with perfectly placed balls. Not only is he an excellent passer, but he showed the ability to run the ball with elusive moves helping him. There were several times that he would do a qb draw or qb sneak and was not afraid to run it up the middle. This is a player that is primarily a passer, but a more than capable runner. His ceiling is a scary thought, being one of the best quarterbacks in the state as a sophomore. His team has 363 points scored through eight games for a reason, which is over 45 points per game.
Ondraye Beasley
Ondraye Beasley
Ondraye Beasley impressed me with his speed, power, and elusiveness. He had some big and impressive plays with him catching the ball short or having the ball behind the line of scrimmage. There was one play that he caught the ball, ran a few yards, juked out a couple of defenders, then dragged three more players for a few yards. This play accumulated around 30-40 yards and was extremely impressive. There was another play that he made an amazing catch on the side lines and ran it for around 50 yards, swerving through traffic. This play consisted of him juking several players and showing his elusiveness. He showed some amazing flashes throughout this game. He will be someone to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.
Micah Tease Micah Tease 6’1″ | WR Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK is ranked as the #3 player in the 2023 class and is committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks for a reason. It is no fluke with how he plays. He is ranked as a wide receiver, but played well on the defensive end, as well. He came up with an interception and then big plays on offense. His burst off the line of scrimmage is elite. Despite playing an elite Muskogee defense, he showed off his skills. He did not have any touchdowns and had a couple of drops on short passes, but his full arsenal was on display. There were times that he would instantly loose the defender off the line and if he did not loose them there, he lost them down the field. He has good hands and great speed. As I watched him play, I texted my friends saying that it is a tease watching Tease, because he did not commit to Oklahoma or Oklahoma State. His skills will make him fun to watch in college.
Lathan Boone Lathan Boone 6’1″ | 175 lbs | QB Booker T Washington | 2023 State OK had some good flashes against a great defense. He showed off good power behind his throws, with the ball instantly getting to his receivers. There were several times throughout the game that he placed the ball right into the receiver’s pocket. One thing that helps him do that is that he has a nice quick release, so he is rarely phased by defensive pressure when the defense is a tad late. On one play, he threw an interception, but showed the ability to come up with a tackle. On one play that impressed me is when he knew he was about to get hammered, but stuck in the pocket to throw a bullet down the field for a massive gain, while drawing the roughing the passer call. Lastly, he showed the ability to scramble and to throw on the run. He has enough elusiveness to help him avoid a couple of tackles, while having the ability to buy time and deliver a perfectly placed pass.
