Game Notes, Observations, North Penn @ Central Bucks East

Much talk has circled around the fact that the Patriots of Central Bucks East haven't come close to beating North Penn in 20+ years. [player_tooltip player_id='248226' first='Ethan' last='Shine']'s efforts, along with the rest of the Patriots, were good enough to put that talk to rest. I have written endlessly on my analysis of [player_tooltip player_id='248226' first='Ethan' last='Shine']'s game. dating back a year and some change. Shine's junior tape, along with his performance at our camp in January, put him on our radar. The stats are loaded, yet you can't get a feel for just how valuable this young man is to the Patriot program. Shine's running style is going to suit him well at the next level. Shine has the inept ability to stay up after initial contact. His balance in the trenches as well as after contact is elite. Shine possesses the ability to hit a hole, absorb contact, and still have vision ahead of his would-be tackler. Shine is ready for his next move even while being engaged with a defender. At this level, Shine can dominate with his upper/lower body strength, he has cut ability to his game, he can stride away from defenders. Where he impresses most, a trait that will translate to the next level is his ability to win without all of the previously mentioned abilities. It's a reason I think he'll be a star at whatever program he inevitably commits to. You can't forget about his talents at linebacker either. Not many RB/LB prospects lead me to think they are better RBs at the next level over LBs. Watching some of the holes this CB East line opens up has me believing I could perform in this offense. As obvious as a joke can be, the talents of [player_tooltip player_id='248231' first='Liam' last='Powers'] and Chris Poulson should not be taken as lightly. Both kids can contribute on both sides of the trenches, yet both project to be promising OL prospects at the next level. He flashed some of said skills this past weekend, coming away with 3 receptions, all of which were of significant difficulty. He's listed at 6'1, yet I have a hard time believing that. Blackwell and LaBouliere each made impressive plays in this one, plays that shifted the course of this game. Blackwell came up with some solid stops on defense, while also providing a huge spark early in this one, nearly returning a kickoff for a touchdown. The same can be said for LaBouliere, who also made some plays at DB while providing the offense with a much-needed spark through the air. LaBouliere connected with Patrick Keller on an 85-yard pass that alleviated some of the pressure off Shine and the running attack. The elite combination of [player_tooltip player_id='91667' first='Ryan' last='Zeltt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='248930' first='Yazeed' last='Haynes'] showed up Friday night. The two connected for a fabulous throw and catch down the sideline early in the first quarter that resulted in North Penn taking an early lead. Haynes can separate at will, especially when attacking vertically. Zeltt had a great night, dealing the ball to his entire cast accurately and on time for the most part. Zeltt came away with one of the more impressive throws I've seen all year, one that fell incomplete. Zeltt launched a 60+ yard bomb without much of a hitch from my angle, which was led a tad too far for Haynes, a kid that is tough to overthrow. Zeltt also connected with [player_tooltip player_id='255742' first='Rashad' last='McNeil'] 3-4 times in the second half, each completion going for at least 15-20 yards a pop. McNeil almost came away with a nice falling catch for a touchdown and was called down at the one. The CB East offensive line got credit for what Shine was able to do with his legs, this NP line should get credit for providing the Knight offense with a multi-faceted approach. NP did a solid job running the ball with their trio of athletes, while also providing time for Zeltt to locate passers downfield. An awesome all-around effort from the line that includes two new names. One being left tackle Mikai Green, who withstood TJ Simkiss for the majority of the game, Simkiss being 3-4 inches taller than Green. The second new name being Evan Schaub, a kid slated to debut on our rankings during our next update. David Dawes is a name that came up when Dylan Callahan-Crowley and I attended the NP scrimmage against Wyomissing in August. We both came away intrigued with this junior play. Sure enough, the same intrigue was rising out of me watching him perform Friday night. Hard runner, with good balance. Good between-the-tackle vision. Great weapon in the redzone, by the time CB East could get enough kids to bring him down, he's already gained 5 yards and a head of steam. Dawes is set to debut on our ranks, possibly high after we evaluate his entire year. Amir Major and Michai Cuffie each made plays in the run game, or even catching screens behind the LOS and making use of open space. Cuffie and Major's efforts left CB East on their heels. not knowing if they will get beat deep by Haynes and Zeltt, or through the trenches or in space.
