Today, we move on to District 4 where we’ve had some of the best football in the Keystone State this season. Below, we highlight five seniors who have done a great job of raising their stocks this season and who we believe could become great players at the next level as well.
The Danville quarterback has completed 76% of his passes this season (73-for-96) for 1,412 yards,21 touchdowns, and one interception. He’s added an additonal 291 yards and one touchdown on the ground as well. He’s a huge reason for the ironmen’s spectacular season thus far and is a big reason they’ll be a threat to win it all this postseason. Gordon has consistenly improved throughout his career and emerged this season as one of the best quarterbacks in all of Pennsylvania. A great athlete, also playing basketball for Danville, Gordon is deserving of college looks and projects well to a Division II quarterback. While he doesn’t use his legs a ton, he has a reported 40-yard dash of 4.71, giving him intriguing dual-threat potential. He also has played strongly as a free safety this year for the Ironmen as well.
We wanted to watch Hill closley this season and we did, he surpassed all our expectations and established himself as one of the best running backs in the class of 2023. The 6-foot-2 running back rushed for 1,211 yards in eight games this season, breaking his pervious career high of 1,180. He also added 238 receiving yards for a total of 1,418 yards from scrimmage. Hill is a strong down hill runner who also has quality 4.6 speed and shows quite a bit of elusivness as well. He uses his size really well whether it’s running in between the tackles or trying to break tackles. Just a fanstic running back overall with top notch vision.
Zach Gordon Zach Gordon OL GA ‘s top receiving threat, Persing entered the season probably underrated and will be in deserving of a nice bump in our next update. Persing when thrown to was dynamite for Danville recording 737 yards on 36 catches thus far and 16 touchdowns. He’s averaging a tremendous 20.5 yards per reception as well. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound wide receiver lacks high end speed but his reliable hands and fluidness in his route running make him a stellar wide receiver. He could be a nice late pickup in the 2023 recruiting cycle for someone and ends up being a big steal.
Highlights
Mason Hoppes
Mason Hoppes
Hoppes really flew under the radar and is someone I just recently learned about. The 6-foot-2 linebacker put up super imrpessive numbers for Hughesville. He’s recorded 128 tackles so far this season including 16 tackles for a loss and two sacks. Hoppes shows good play recognition abilities and has a nice burst to his game. A sound tackler, Hoppes rarely misses tackles, he does a great job of wrapping up opposing ball quickers quickly. Really sound linebacker overall who may not be the msot athletic but can be a solid player at the next level if given the opportunity.
Packer has been a big part of Jeersey Shore’s great defense this esason thanks to 121 tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, and five sacks. Packer is a bit undersized at linebacker at 5-foot-10 but plays bigger than he is. Overall, a highly sound linebacker who has quality athleticism and can be assett in multiple packages.
