I am listing the players who’s stat line stood out, who people recommended but most importantly, ONLY players who either I watched live or was able to watch highlights from their specific game. For the best chance to be featured, send me your weekly film on twitter. My handle is “@DevinRecord”, please don’t have any hard feelings if you weren’t included.
Keonne Gladden
Keonne Gladden
During River Ridge’s game against Timberline HS, Keonne dominant off the edge all game. His pursuit to the quarterback is relentless and he has great speed coming off the edge as well. He gets in the backfield extremely fast, utilizing his defensive line moves in a productive way. He’s VERY strong. He casually throws offensive lineman to the side with ease. He’s going to be someone to watch this and next year.
Cooper Aitken
Cooper Aitken
Cooper is the first of two Spanaway Lake HS defensive lineman I am including in this article. Aitken stands at 6’7″ and is a matchup nightmare for many offensive lineman. Cooper has very solid technique when rushing the passer. Against Mt Tahoma, he was performing spin moves and quick swim techniques efficient all night long. He had many tackles in the backfield and even blocked a punt on special teams.
Here’s the other Spanaway Lake defensive lineman I wanted to include in this weeks article. Noah produces well on both sides of the football, starting at center on the offensive side. Noah is extremely strong, showing that by driving the offensive lineman back when he’s rushing the quarterback. Since he plays so well on both sides of the ball, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was featured in a later article.
Highlights
Reyes Jr is still only a sophomore and his game will continue to evolve as he gains more experience on the field. He drives his feet well, always keeping them moving. This led to many tackles/combined tackles against Washington HS, even getting to the quarterback a couple times as well. He lines up on the inside or outside of the defensive line and makes plays in both places as well. He’s going to be a force to stop during his junior and senior seasons.
Highlights
Onyx is a top 5 defensive lineman in the class according to PrepRedzoneWA. He has been showing everyone why he is through his play this year. Yelm HS has been dominating teams all season scoring over 30/40 points every game. But they are also stopping teams on the defensive side of the ball as well thanks to Carter and the rest of the solid Yelm HS defense. Onyx was productive against Central Kitsap HS, being able to get in the backfield often. He also blocked a kick on special teams, after he shed 2 blockers trying to stop him. He uses his speed to get by the offensive lineman, leading to a sack against Central Kitsap as well. Carter doesn’t play like a normal 2024 graduate, he’s going to be hard to stop next season.
