Expert Analysis

Fernando has been a rising prospect over the last year since his sophomore year started. He has continued to grow his game on the field and is only getting better still. While being able to line up anywhere on the defensive line, Reyes stands out to me when he’s rushing from the edge. His reaction time is quick, often bursting into the offensive line extremely quickly. He’s got great strength, as not many offensive lineman have been able to hold him in place and control him. Yet, I don’t think we’ve seen the best from him.

Reyes is a tall and lengthy DE with an active lower half. He takes advantage of his arm length in several ways. He has good overall hand technique and aggression, and follows through on his speed rips to get into the backfield quickly. He’s got good hand-eye instincts and coordination and can bat passes down. He’s twitchy off the line and can latch onto QBs and RBs from far away in the backfield. He’s lined up and wrecked from both the inside and outside and could do both in college as well, with great size and quickness giving him versatility. College coaches get two more years to see Reyes play at Enumclaw, but he could commit to play college football well before that.

Reyes Jr is still only a sophomore and his game will continue to evolve as he gains more experience on the field. He drives his feet well, always keeping them moving. This led to many tackles/combined tackles against Washington HS, even getting to the quarterback a couple times as well. He lines up on the inside or outside of the defensive line and makes plays in both places as well. He’s going to be a force to stop during his junior and senior seasons.
