Midwest Stat-Monsters: 50 Top Individual Performances from 9/15

This is undoubtedly my favorite time of year. High school, college, and pro football are all still in the genesis of their season, the leaves are turning and cool breezes are beginning to blow across the U.S., exhaling an autumn breath into our system but still allowing us some warmth and sunshine, and fall festivities are the holiday season are beginning to rear their heads. Of the three/four days of football we are blessed with throughout the week, nothing gets the butterflies going in my stomach like Friday Night Lights, and last weekend we saw some outstanding individual performances from across the Midwest that caught our eyes at PRZ and earned themselves a spot in our weekly Midwest Stat-Monsters feature. Nine states from my favorite region in America are represented, with standout and impressive offensive, defensive, and special team performances that are sure to stuff the stat sheet and make our lovely readers wonder aloud: "how did he do that?" In a 61-19 beatdown of Jersey HS the senior passed for 259 yards and 5 TDs and rushed for 92 yards and 2 more TDs.   Ethan Kohl (Bradley-Bourbonnais) Junior. QB. The 6'4, 180 lber. aided in a big 39-32 victory over Lincoln Way-West and went 19-22 for 351 yards and 5 TDs through the air.   Cale McThenia (Marian Central Catholic) Junior. QB. In Week 4 action against Wisconsin's Appleton West the junior totaled 328 yards and 3 TDs.   [player_tooltip player_id='271825' first='Cole' last='Crafton'] (Lincoln Way West) Junior. QB. The 6'3, 205 lb. Louisville baseball commit went 20-34 for 337 yards and 4 TDs in a loss to Bradley-Bourbonnais.   [player_tooltip player_id='248197' first='Jacob' last='Donohue'] (Grayslake North) Senior. QB. Passed for 319 yards and 3 TDs in his week 4 matchup vs. crosstown Grayslake Central.   Indiana   De'jevon McFerson (Speedway) Senior. RB. Had a big night against Monrovia and posted 13 carries for 255 yards and 3 TDs plus 13 tackles, a TFL, and a sack in the 41-16 win. In a week 5 victory against Madison-Grant Mr. Turanchick rushed for 190 yards and 5 TDs and added 2 PBUs, a sack, and a TFL defensively. Oak Hill won 35-6. Had a dynamic Friday night and caught 4 passes for 84 yards and a TD, threw a 80 yard TD pass, and returned a kickoff 85 yards for a TD. Had an efficient night through the air and went 12-14 for 259 yards and 3 total TDs against Indian Creek High School.   Colton Stowers (Hatchet) Sophomore. QB. Against Washington High School the underclassman went 13-14 for 253 yards and 4 TDs and also rushed for a touchdown in only a half of play. Jontae Lambert (Fort Wayne North Side) Senior. RB. Posted 28 carries for 283 yards and 3 TDs in week 5 action against Bishop Luers.   Iowa   [player_tooltip player_id='247945' first='Lance' last='Coon'] (Humboldt) Junior. RB. Posted 14 carries for 122 yards and 4 TDs plus three catches for 18 yards against Boone High School.   [player_tooltip player_id='156458' first='Noah' last='John'] (Grand View Christian) Junior. QB. The 8man standout passed for 212 yards and rushed for 54 to go along with his 5 total TDs against Baxter High School.   Ryan Kuennen (Valley) Senior. DE. In a Week 4 matchup with Waukee the senior 6'3, 240 lber. totaled 8.5 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, and 2 sacks in the Friday night win. The senior offensive weapon had a solid Week 4 game against Lake Mills and recorded 13 rushes for 143 yards yards and 3 TDs, a catch for 44 yards, and 9 total tackles. Had a great night with his boot as he went 7/7 on kickoff touchbacks, 4/4 on PATs, and 2/2 on FGs against Waterloo West High School.   Kansas   [player_tooltip player_id='87702' first='Jesse' last='Greenly'] IV (Atchison) Senior. RB/LB. 5'11, 220 lbs. The RB posted a 4 carry for 100 yard and 4 TD performance in a 65-0 beatdown of J.C. Harmon High School.   [player_tooltip player_id='35681' first='Tre' last='Richardson'] (Highland Park) Senior. RB. In a 63-36 win over Sumner Academy the 2021 and 2022 stat-monster posted 6 TDs, two 2pt conversions, and an interception!   [player_tooltip player_id='281972' first='Brandon' last='Schmelzle'] (Axtell) Sophomore. ATH. The 6'2 2025 grad totaled 8 rushes for 147 yards and 4 TDs, 7 receptions for 126 yards and a TD, and an interception on defense as Axtell took on Clifton-Clyde last Friday. The 6'3, 185 lber. recorded three interceptions, all of which he returned for TDs in a 60-6 win at Solomon High School. The junior caught 8 passes for 184 yards and 3 TDs and added a carry for 30 yards and a TD as Valley Falls defeated Horton 34-20.   [player_tooltip player_id='123014' first='Karsten' last='McKee'] (Pleasanton) Senior. RB. The senior finished with 35 carries for 308 yards and 4 TDs in a win against Belle Plaine.   [player_tooltip player_id='87649' first='Dylan' last='Edwards'] (Derby) Senior. RB. The Notre Dame commit beat up on Bishop Carroll to the tune of 19 carries for 165 yards and 6 TDs. Derby won 45-38.   [player_tooltip player_id='244977' first='Teagan' last='Cobb'] (Rose Hill) Senior. K/P. The three-sport decorated standout had a great game with his leg as he was 6/8 on kickoffs ending in a touchback, was 2/2 on PATs, and went 3/3 on FGs with successful makes from 27, 33, and 43 yards out.   [player_tooltip player_id='243299' first='Cooper' last='Hajek'] (Nemaha Central) Senior. RB. The two-way standout posted a 26 carry for 302 rushing yards and 4 TD performance against Perry-Lecompton.   [player_tooltip player_id='122492' first='Grant' last='Stubblefield'] (Blue Valley NW) Senior. RB. In a 48-24 victory over Blue Valley HS the senior set his school's career rushing record by passing 2900 yards as he also set the single-game mark with a 34 rush for 301 yard and 4 TD day. He's a TD shy of the career touchdown record as well.   Harley Buller (Haysville Campus) Senior. DB. The All-State outfielder had a great game last Friday on the gridiron and snagged three interceptions, one of which he returned for a TD.   Javon Letsch (Natoma) Senior. ATH. The 6'2, 230 lb. do-it-all 8player standout posted a monster 9 TDs, 2 INTs, 6 tackles, and 300 all-purpose yard performance as Natoma beat Burrton 64-19.   Jensen Schrickel (Hayden Catholic) Sophomore. ATH. Scored four TDs: a kickoff return for 6, a punt return for 6, a TD reception, and a rushing TD, plus 7-8 on PATs as a kicker.   Logan Arasmith (Beloit) Senior. RB. Versus Republic County the senior posted 26 carries for 296 yards and 5 TDs.   Michigan   AJ Bryan (Tecumseh) Junior. RB. The 6'1, 190 lb. RB had a busy night against Adrian High School as he rushed for 135 yards and 5 TDs, caught a pass for 30 yards, returned 3 kicks for 132 yards and a TD, and added 5 tackles, 3 PBUs, and a FF.   Minnesota   [player_tooltip player_id='112095' first='Derrik' last='Brown Jr']. (Park of Cottage Grove) Senior. RB. Posted 10 carries and 3 receptions for 317 yards and 4 TDs in a 43-36 win over Eastview.   [player_tooltip player_id='368534' first='Beau' last='Wiersma'] (Kingsland) Junior. RB. Had a monster night of 15 carries for 339 yards and 2 TDs in a big win versus Southland High School.   Jake Tepley (Braham) Junior. QB. In a big 66-44 win against Barnum the junior rushed for 301 yards and 4 TDs and passed for 75 yards and 2 TDs as well.   Missouri   [player_tooltip player_id='249630' first='Anthony' last='Wenson'] (Liberty) Senior. ATH. The Air Force commit posted 26 carries for 265 yards and 6 TDs in Liberty's win against Park Hill High School.   [player_tooltip player_id='215090' first='AJ' last='Raines'] (Timberland) Senior. QB. The senior broke two school records as he broke single-game passing marks for yards (489) and touchdowns (6) as the Wolves took down Fort Zumwalt West. His total stat line was 32-44 for 489 and 6 TDS passing and 87 rushing yards and a TD on the ground.   [player_tooltip player_id='254474' first='Keylan' last='Mitchell'] (Parkway North) Junior. DE. It was a night of stat monsters in the Parkway North vs. Rockwood Summit game, and defensively one of the standouts was junior Mitchell, who totaled 18 tackles and 4 TFLs. The 6'2, 180 pounder suffered a defeat last Friday night but did his best to overcome 45-33 L vs. Rockwood Summit as he passed for 116 yards and a TD, rushed for 156 yards and 2 TDs, and caught 125 receiving yards and a TD.   Grant Parker Gibson (Rockwood Summit) Junior QB. Went 20-28 for 339 yards and 3 TDs through the air as Rockwood Summit defeated Parkway North.   Ohio   [player_tooltip player_id='138658' first='Aidan' last='Pratt'] (Van Wert) Senior. QB. In a 70-41 win over Memorial High School the Ohio stat-monster went 24-28 for 455 yards and 6 TDs and added two rushing TDs as well.   Conner Campbell (Van Wert) Senior. WR. The aforementioned Pratt's favorite target last Friday, Campbell caught 12 passes for 261 yards and 4 TDs. A 2021 consistent stat-monster, Schondelmyer had a big day against Beavercreek and went 17-18 for 343 yards and 6 TDs through the air.   Kaden Gebhardt (Olentangy) Freshman. DB. The stud Ohio first-year picked off three passes against Central Crossing in an impressive varsity showing.   DaOne Owens (Copley) Junior. QB. First off, absolute awesome name. The 6'2, 205 lber. balled out against Kent and went 22-31 for 352 yards and 4 TDs and added 15 rushes for 311 yards and 2 TDs. Have a day! The junior LB had a good defensive showing against Newton Falls and recorded 12 tackles, 4 TFLs, a sack, and an interception he returned for a TD. This was all in just two quarters of action as well.   Wisconsin   [player_tooltip player_id='104994' first='Finnley' last='Doriot'] (Kaukauna) Junior QB. The Galloping Ghost gun-slinger was 12-16 for 268 yards and 3 TDs against Oshkosh West.   [player_tooltip player_id='304448' first='Blake' last='Schraufnagel'] (Mayville) Senior. ATH. Was a triple-threat in week 5 versus Lomira and tallied 12 carries for 133 yards and a rushing TD, caught a pass for 15 yards and a TD, and returned a punt for a 55 yard TD.   [player_tooltip player_id='157794' first='Mason' last='Keyes'] (DeForest) Senior. QB. In a 41-0 victory over Stoughton the senior went 19-23 for 260 yards and 2 TDs. I'm all about efficiency from the QB spot!   Brock Birrenkott (Pacelli) Senior. RB. The 5'10, 190 lber. rushed for five tuddies against Rosholt last Friday. Danny Lodl (Sturgeon Bay) Junior. QB. In his Week 5 game against Peshtigo the Clippers signal caller was 15-21 for 360 yards and 5 TDs.
