Each week I will breakdown and make predictions for seven games in Southern California.

I don't want to boast, but I went a very nice 6-1 last week.

Here is a look at what I think are the top games of the week:

DAMIEN VS. LA SERNA

Reporters I know in the San Gabriel Valley always hype up Damien football but I have yet to be blown away by the Spartans. They are off to a 1-3 start this season but have played a challenging schedule with losses to Yorba Linda, Pasadena and Orange Lutheran. [player_tooltip player_id='145215' first='Dylan' last='Gutierrez'] is an athletic senior quarterback who can extend plays with his legs. La Serna is coming off a big win against Tesoro where they overcame a 21-0 deficit. Owen Long is a great two-way player for La Serna and [player_tooltip player_id='391293' first='Jayden' last='Northrup'] had a big second half last week. Damien's losses are impressive but they need to learn how to win close games. La Serna can't fall behind like they did last week.

The pick: La Serna

https://twitter.com/owenlong22/status/1568871185756352512?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

SANTA MARGARITA VS. LOS ALAMITOS

Santa Margarita is 3-0 but only has one impressive win so far. [player_tooltip player_id='25428' first='Jaxon' last='Potter'] is a good quarterback who can move the ball down the field. I like how they use [player_tooltip player_id='115420' first='Emmett' last='Mosley'] on underneath routes and [player_tooltip player_id='190355' first='Niko' last='Lopez'] and [player_tooltip player_id='195538' first='Bain' last='Eiseman'] over the top. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='147756' first='Levar' last='Talley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='383955' first='Collins' last='Acheampong'] are lethal on the edge and [player_tooltip player_id='204409' first='Jacob' last='Bower'] is a tackling machine. Los Alamitos' USC commits [player_tooltip player_id='25419' first='Malachi' last='Nelson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='25398' first='Makai' last='Lemon'] are red hot right now. [player_tooltip player_id='384703' first='Damian' last='Henderson'] has been great running the ball as well. A potential mismatch is Los Al's receiving corps with Lemon, [player_tooltip player_id='145170' first='Ethan' last='O'Connor'], [player_tooltip player_id='25357' first='Kassius' last='Ashtiani'] and [player_tooltip player_id='145234' first='Gavin' last='Porch'] against the Eagles' secondary. [player_tooltip player_id='282763' first='Joshua' last='Tuchek'] and [player_tooltip player_id='282775' first='LaRue' last='Zamorano'] are talented young players but they haven't been tested like this yet. This game is huge as far as playoff placement goes.

The pick: Santa Margarita

https://twitter.com/SMCHS_Football/status/1569379997135290368?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

RANCHO CUCAMONGA VS. JSERRA

We will learn a lot about where these two teams stand after this week. [player_tooltip player_id='42957' first='CJ' last='Tiller'] is a quality quarterback for Rancho Cucamonga but he can get careless with the football at times. [player_tooltip player_id='398454' first='Jason' last='Harris'] will be the best receiver on the field and [player_tooltip player_id='261762' first='Julian' last='Lundy'] can make big plays. Lavaka Latu can cause major problems in the backfield. [player_tooltip player_id='406721' first='George' last='Perez'] is a talented running back for JSerra behind a quality offensive line. [player_tooltip player_id='406653' first='Logan' last='Christensen'] is a talented sophomore receiver who has yet to have a breakout game. [player_tooltip player_id='942928' first='Clarence' last='Chaney'] leads a solid defense for the Lions. JSerra's losses are to Chaminade and Centennial who are great teams. This was a 20 point game last season and I don't think Rancho Cucamonga has closed the gap by that much.

The pick: JSerra

https://twitter.com/CannonSportsUsa/status/1570122023011225600?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

YORBA LINDA VS. SIMI VALLEY

Yorba Linda is 4-0 with a nice win over Damien and two blowout wins over Orange and San Juan Hills. The Mustangs are versatile and can beat you through the air with quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='270909' first='Reyn' last='Beal'] or on the ground with running back William Saucedo. [player_tooltip player_id='220688' first='JJ' last='Conrad'] is a good receiver who can get open and [player_tooltip player_id='270026' first='Wyatt' last='Mosier'] covers a ton of ground at linebacker. Simi Valley is coming off its first regular season loss in two seasons. [player_tooltip player_id='282750' first='Steele' last='Pizzella'] is one of the best sophomore quarterbacks in the state and Caleb Alvary is a big playmaker on offense. Colorado commit [player_tooltip player_id='261721' first='Carson' last='Mott'] is great off the edge and may cause problems for the Yorba Linda offensive line. This is a tough test for Yorba Linda but they are so well-coached and versatile that they are prepared for this.

The pick: Yorba Linda

https://twitter.com/BealReyn/status/1569344859890417664?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

ALEMANY VS. MISSION VIEJO

Alemany has not played a game since August 26 when it had an impressive win over Lincoln of San Diego. CJ Ceron is a dual threat quarterback with a backfield of [player_tooltip player_id='241619' first='Paden' last='White'] and [player_tooltip player_id='219675' first='Jeremiah' last='Claiborne']. Juan Martinez is the leading tackler for the defense and [player_tooltip player_id='281243' first='La'Mario' last='Claiborne'] is one of the best sophomore defensive linemen in the state. Arizona commit [player_tooltip player_id='145204' first='Siaosi' last='Tapaatoutai'] is great playing both ways. Mission Viejo bounced back from its loss against Long Beach Poly with a dominant win over Sierra Canyon. [player_tooltip player_id='25441' first='Kadin' last='Semonza'] can throw down the field and [player_tooltip player_id='25408' first='Mikey' last='Matthews'] can get open with ease. The Diablos front seven will have to play big this week and I expect [player_tooltip player_id='261806' first='Jonathan' last='Becerra'], [player_tooltip player_id='384943' first='Joey' last='Torrez'] and Michae Damato to step up. I think Alemany is too one dimensional to beat Mission Viejo.

The pick: Mission Viejo

https://twitter.com/TravisA949/status/1570167578718515200?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

DE LA SALLE VS. CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC

De La Salle is a top three team in Northern California and is heading south to play Cathedral Catholic. Fresno State commit [player_tooltip player_id='25384' first='Charles' last='Greer'] leads the running game along with [player_tooltip player_id='25385' first='Dylan' last='Greeson']. Notre Dame commit [player_tooltip player_id='144959' first='Cooper' last='Flanagan'] is a matchup nightmare at tight end. De La Salle is bigger than usual on the offensive line this year with TCU commit [player_tooltip player_id='190432' first='Cooper' last='Powers'] and Harvard commit [player_tooltip player_id='169765' first='Derek' last='Thompson']. Cathedral Catholic is coming off a nice win over Helix. Will Bond can make plays out of the backfield and [player_tooltip player_id='145169' first='Marcus' last='Ratcliffe'] is one of the best athletes on the field. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id='145201' first='Victory' last='Johnson'] is a star and will be busy stopping the De La Salle running game. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='282705' first='Madden' last='Faraimo'] is a great athlete for the Dons. This is a good matchup but this isn't the strongest Cathedral Catholic team in recent years.

The pick: De La Salle

EDISON VS. SAN CLEMENTE

Both teams are very hot with 4-0 starts. San Clemente just had a convincing win over Corona del Mar. Blake Allen is a workhorse at running back and [player_tooltip player_id='195580' first='Broderick' last='Redden'] is a very good game manager at quarterback. Defensively, San Clemente can get into the backfield with Cole Robertson and Nolan Reid. [player_tooltip player_id='168733' first='Brad' last='Gerken'] covers a ton of ground in the secondary. Edison can move the ball through the air with quarterback Parker Awad and receivers [player_tooltip player_id='183440' first='Jackson' last='Irwin'], Tucker Tripp, Ashton Hurley and Mason York. Dom Lopez and Logan Gregory are two very good defensive players for the Chargers. This was a 42-0 game in Edison's favor last season. This game will not be like that, but I don't think San Clemente has closed the gap by 42 points.

The pick: Edison

https://twitter.com/EdisonChargerFB/status/1569849789784670208?s=20u0026t=_dKta3xuF1O1koJ93t8cZg

HUNTLEY'S RECORD: 18-10

Each week I will breakdown and make predictions for seven games in Southern California.
