For a complete recap of Thursday night's game and a look at Bixby's top players, READ HERE. The Rams had a great start and led 7-0 early on in the second quarter. But the Rams would lose momentum before halftime and it was all Bixby in the second half. Owasso now shifts their focus to the rest of non-district play, and they have arguably the toughest first half schedule in the state. They'll travel to Jenks next week. In this post, we take a look at five players for Owasso that stood out, despite the tough loss to Bixby.

[player_tooltip player_id='427388' first='Anthony' last='Hills'] - 2023 Wide Receiver

Owasso's passing attack is probably the only bright spot for the Ram offense looking back on Thursday's loss. Despite losing star [player_tooltip player_id='45651' first='Cole' last='Adams'] for the second half, the Rams were able to still find success throwing the ball. One of the standouts at that position was 2023 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='427388' first='Anthony' last='Hills']. The Owasso senior finished with six catches for nearly 90 yards and a touchdown. Hills gives the Rams some versatility at the wide receiver position. While Adams is a playmaker and speedster, Hills gives the Rams legit size at the wide receiver position. After seeing him this spring and summer, it looked like he was primed for a breakout season and it looks like we're on that path now.

[player_tooltip player_id='427387' first='Braeden' last='Foster'] - 2023 Linebacker

The first of two former Skiatook standouts on this breakdown is 2023 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='427387' first='Braeden' last='Foster']. The 2023 backer is one of just a few starters that return from last year's team. The Rams are still looking for some new faces to step up on that side of the ball and the defense played well for the first two quarters. They forced turnovers, they were really good in the red zone and kept Bixby off the scoreboard as long as they could. In the first few quarters, it seemed like every other play for Bixby, the PA announcer was saying Foster's name on the tackle. He was an absolute tackling machine. The Rams will look to see what went well in the first half and continue that moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='45651' first='Cole' last='Adams'] - 2023 Wide Receiver

There's no doubt who Owasso's top player is and that's 2023 standout and Alabama commit [player_tooltip player_id='45651' first='Cole' last='Adams']. In the first two quarters, it looked like Adams was without a doubt the best player on the field. In the first two quarters, Adams had seven catches for over 150 yards. And Bixby actually did a good job defending Adams, he's just that good. Almost every catch was contested but the Alabama commit came down with it. However, Adams got banged up and would not play in the second half. With Adams sitting out the third and fourth quarter, the offense really struggled. Adams is definitely the engine that makes this Owasso offense run on full power.

[player_tooltip player_id='427389' first='Kunta' last='Jordan'] - 2023 Linebacker

Foster wasn't the only linebacker that stood out early on for Owasso. Fellow 2023 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='427389' first='Kunta' last='Jordan'] had an excellent game defensively as he racked up the tackles along with Foster and also had a fumble recovery. Early on in the game, Jordan was everywhere and did a good job of getting into the Bixby backfield and causing problems for Bixby's running game. When we talked with head coach Bill Blankenship earlier this week, he mentioned Jordan as a defensive player that could be primed for a breakout season this year. He saw quite a bit of playing time last year but this is his first opportunity to step into a new role and he's already taking advantage of it.

[player_tooltip player_id='38821' first='Mason' last='Willingham'] - 2023 Quarterback

Just like Foster, 2023 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='38821' first='Mason' last='Willingham'] started his freshman and sophomore year at Skiatook. Willingham has taken over the Owasso offense and he did his best to keep the Rams in this game. Last year, Willingham was mainly used in running situations and he was still Owasso's top running threat with 2023 running back [player_tooltip player_id='38786' first='Emery' last='Neeley'] sitting out. But this fall, Willingham is expected to take the next step as a passer and he took that step against a Bixby defense where the strength is in their secondary. There's no doubt that he has some weapons around him with Adams and Hills at wide receiver, but Willingham could put up some big numbers this fall.
