It’s the month of June and we’re inching closer to the start of the 2022 football season. This month, we’re updating and upgrading our prospect rankings across the site. This week, it’s all about the 2025 class as the breakout freshmen from last season now become sophomores this fall. In case you missed our complete ranking update, you can check out the 2025 Top 50 Right Here! Throughout the week, we’ll take a look at different position groups, as well as some of the other standouts inside and just outside of this recent ranking update. Stay tuned to Prep Redzone Oklahoma throughout the month of June for more ranking updates, along with a ton of prospect breakdowns. In this post, we take a look at five running backs and what makes them stand out. 5 running backs cracked the Top 20 in the recent update. We covered one with Wynnewood’s Caden Knighten Caden Knighten 6'1" | 180 lbs | RB Pauls Valley | 2025 State OK in our ranking newcomers post. Several of these running backs are right there with Knighten in the conversation for best in the state.
Ravian Larry
Ravian
Larry
6'1" | RB
Idabel | 2025
State
OK
– Idabel
(Ranked #2 Overall – #1 RB)
Get ready for plenty of small school standouts on this breakdown as Idabel running back Ravian Larry Ravian Larry 6'1" | RB Idabel | 2025 State OK leads a very impressive group of running backs, all from small towns for the most part. Larry still holds on to the top spot at running back and his recruitment has started to pick up this spring. After having a breakout year as a freshman, the more his tape made the rounds, the more colleges didn’t hesitate to jump on board. Larry might not have gotten much pub around the state during his freshman year but we have a feeling that he won’t have that problem moving forward. Larry was the #1 overall prospect and this time around it’s Ryan Grayson Ryan Grayson 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Beggs | 2025 State OK from Beggs. But to be completely transparent, you’re not wrong with going with either prospect in the top spot.
Demarius Robinson
Demarius
Robinson
5'9" | 165 lbs | RB
Edmond Santa Fe | 2025
State
OK
– Edmond Santa Fe
(Ranked #13 Overall – #3 RB)
The only running back prospect on this breakdown that plays higher than 2A football is Edmond Santa Fe’s Demarius Robinson Demarius Robinson 5'9" | 165 lbs | RB Edmond Santa Fe | 2025 State OK and he played at the highest level of 6A-1 and wasted no time getting out on the field. Robinson might have been the very first freshman we saw in person last year as we first caught him in action in a preseason scrimmage in August. That was before he ran for well over 1,000 yards and was one of the top performing freshmen in Oklahoma, regardless of the position he played. And with Edmond Santa Fe losing nearly their entire passing attack from last year’s team, it’s not hard to predict that Robinson will have a a much higher workload as he goes into his sophomore season. We believe that he’ll be ready for it once this fall arrives.
AJ Lyons-Jerrell
AJ
Lyons-Jerrell
6'0" | 195 lbs | RB
Pocola | 2025
State
OK
– Pocola
(Ranked #17 Overall – #4 RB)
And we’re back to the small school standouts with Pocola running back AJ Lyons-Jerrell AJ Lyons-Jerrell 6'0" | 195 lbs | RB Pocola | 2025 State OK . We first saw Jerrell back in January at our camp and after going back and watching film, it’s hard not to be impressed with the standout from Pocola. And the expectation is that not only is he going to take his game to another level this fall, but he’s going to be one of the top running backs in the state. Pocola is in a tough district with Gore, who is the top preseason team in Class A. But as we’ve seen before when it comes to Class A, sometimes all it takes is one superstar to take over a game and carry his team to a deep run in November and December. Maybe it’s a little early for a sophomore to put on that Superman cape but those around the Pocola program won’t be surprised if it happens.
Felix Teal
Felix
Teal
5'9" | 180 lbs | RB
Laverne | 2025
State
OK
– Laverne
(Ranked #20 Overall – #5 RB)
It’s not something we advertise but we don’t cover much 8-man football across the state. Not a knock on the sport, but there just isn’t enough manpower to get it done. However, one prospect we are definitely going to check out this fall comes from 8-man powerhouse Laverne as Felix Teal Felix Teal 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Laverne | 2025 State OK helped lead them to another state championship as a freshman. His championship game performance last year was one of the best by an individual and we’re looking forward to seeing what he does as an encore. In small school football, one player can make the difference between winning gold and going home early. Teal is that type of player and it’s hard not to imagine that Laverne will be right back in the mix for another gold ball this season.
Easton Malone
Easton
Malone
6'0" | 185 lbs | RB
Barnsdall | 2025
State
OK
– Barnsdall
(Ranked #49 Overall – #6 RB)
Yet another small school product on this breakdown is Barnsdall running back Easton Malone Easton Malone 6'0" | 185 lbs | RB Barnsdall | 2025 State OK . Our final running back prospect is definitely more of a power runner although he showcased plenty of speed throughout the season. It didn’t matter where Malone lined up, Barnsdall would find a way to get him the ball. Whether it was as a traditional running back or if he was just taking direct snaps out of the shotgun, Barnsdall did whatever they had to do to get Malone involved. This running back class is absolutely stacked at the top but don’t overlook Malone as he comes in as the #6 running back in the class. We expect him to have a very productive season this fall as one of the top rushers in small school football. Granted, he’ll have plenty of company in that category.
