The underclassmen are the future of the programs, especially the first-year student-athletes. There are times when some of the more impressive players on the field happen to be freshmen.

Kolstad is arguably one of the top linebackers in the state, and he is just getting started. His ability to read and react is outstanding, and his strength is unmatched. He has impressive speed, which helps make him an excellent defender in coverage, especially when he can showcase his jam techniques. Kolstad is on the path to being a big name in the recruiting world.
Gunnar Clary Gunnar Clary 6'2" | 200 lbs | DL Eaton | 2025 State CO | Eaton | 6’1”, 178lbs | EDGE
Clary is a talented player with a very bright future. He is quick off the ball and brings excellent athleticism and disruptive physicality to the edge. He plays to his leverage with a good pad level, showing solid fundamentals in his skillset. Clary finished his freshman season with a state championship, and now he consistently impresses onlookers at camps and showcases as he prepares for his sophomore campaign.
Mason Carter Mason Carter ATH Vista Ridge | 2025 State CO | Vista Ridge | 6’1”, 170lbs | WR/DB

His willingness to go up and get the ball in traffic makes him a reliable target for his quarterback. As a defender, Carter puts his speed, physicality, and determination to great use as a dangerous member of the secondary.
Alex Birch Alex Birch 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Horizon | 2025 State CO | Horizon | QB
The quarterback group for this freshman class has serious talent among its ranks, and Birch fits that mold. He is an intelligent QB who has shown good decision-making with his passes. He has a sharp throwing motion with a quick release and accurate ball placement. His arm strength gives him the ability to thread the needle by rifling in a pass. In his first year, Birch was one of a few freshmen to take the field as a varsity shot-caller.
Josiah Piercy | Dakota Ridge | WR/DB
Piercy was a little more of a low flyer heading into the offseason, but he has started to garner some shine under the spotlight while competing in 7-on-7 tournaments. He is a well-rounded player who tracks and attacks the ball in the air, making him a playmaker on both sides of the ball. He uses speed and shifty cuts as a receiver to elude defenders as a route runner and a ball carrier.
