Enjoy! Spring football is about to begin in Oklahoma and that means it’s a wrap for the 7v7 travel circuit. We went to tournaments throughout the spring and saw some fantastic talent from Oklahoma nearly every single weekend. Over the next few days, we’re taking a look back at the best prospects that we had a chance to see in person. And here’s a disclaimer before we begin, a lot of these prospects played for Sooner 7 because we saw plenty of Sooner 7 throughout the 7v7 circuit. But we do have a few other prospects from other travel programs. In this post, we’re taking a look at the prospects that we didn’t know much about, if anything before the 7v7 season, and they quickly became breakout players, primed for a big season this fall. ICYMI: - Quarterback Special
[player_tooltip player_id="268334" first="Ce’Alm" last="Kilpatrick II"] - 2023 DB - Sallisaw (Sooner 7) One of a handful of 2023 prospects that are on this list, Sallisaw defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="268334" first="Ce’Alm" last="Kilpatrick II"] was one of the top defensive prospects that we saw this offseason. He jumped off the page when we first saw him at the tryout for Sooner 7 in December. He continued that at our camp in January and then he was off to the races with Sooner 7 on the tournament circuit. Kilpatrick is one of the top cover corners in the state’s 2023 class and he certainly has flown under the radar until this spring. He was outstanding in man coverage for Sooner 7 this offseason. And let’s be honest, it’s hard to really stand out as a defensive player in 7v7 but Kilpatrick was able to do so in multiple tournaments. Kilpatrick is definitely going to be a defensive name to watch this fall. [player_tooltip player_id="154214" first="Grayson" last="Chalk"] - 2024 WR - Booker T Washington (Sooner 7) One of the top offensive playmakers that we didn’t know much about coming into this offseason was Booker T Washington 2024 wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id="154214" first="Grayson" last="Chalk"]. We couldn’t help but be incredibly impressed with his playmaking ability throughout the tournament circuit. Chalk isn’t the biggest wide receiver but he does have good size and the fact that he can jump over just about any defensive back certainly makes him a huge target within the passing game. Booker T Washington should be able to utilize him this fall as another weapon on the offensive side of the ball. It seemed like the majority of plays that Chalk made were on jump balls or big play catches that would end up in the end zone. He was a highlight play waiting to happen and we’re excited to see how much that translates this fall. [player_tooltip player_id="211556" first="Jamarian" last="Ficklin"] - 2025 ATH - Muskogee (Sooner 7) A player that is definitely on the short list of prospects that impressed us the most this offseason is Muskogee 2025 standout [player_tooltip player_id="211556" first="Jamarian" last="Ficklin"]. We knew coming into this offseason that he was a good quarterback after starting for Muskogee as a freshman. However, with Sooner 7 being absolutely loaded with quarterbacks, Ficklin showed that he’s much more than a QB as he played wide receiver and defensive back in multiple tournaments. While he impressed during his opportunities to be a quarterback, it’s hard to ignore what he was able to do at the WR and DB spot as well as QB. Ficklin quickly turned into an all around athlete and he has plenty of high school ball to play but he has an incredibly bright future. What he’ll end up playing at the next level is still up for debate but we’re confident already that he’s a next level talent. [player_tooltip player_id="286908" first="Josh" last="Hendricks"] - 2024 WR/DB - Rejoice Christian (Sooner 7) Looking back, the breakout started happening last fall with Rejoice Christian 2024 standout [player_tooltip player_id="286908" first="Josh" last="Hendricks"]. The Rejoice sophomore had an outstanding sophomore season but was somewhat overshadowed by 2023 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"]. But the more we got to see Hendricks perform this offseason, the more convinced we became that he’s a playmaker on both sides of the ball. On offense, Hendricks was a reliable pass catcher and on defense, we liked what he brought to the table as a ball hawk safety. Hendricks definitely has potential to be one of the top playmakers in Class 2A this fall and the combination of Hendricks and the returning Wilson at quarterback is going to give opponents serious problems. Hendricks was also part of Rejoice’s outstanding state champion track team. [player_tooltip player_id="288967" first="Kevon" last="Robinson"] - 2024 WR - Coweta (Sooner 7) Another 2024 wide receiver who has had an outstanding offseason is Coweta wideout [player_tooltip player_id="288967" first="Kevon" last="Robinson"]. We’ll go ahead and let you know right now, Robinson will be one of the top breakout stars in Class 5A this fall. Coweta has a potential game changer returning to the field this season and Robinson has the chance to have a huge 2022 campaign. Robinson was a consistent big play threat throughout the tournament circuit and in addition to the big plays, he was also consistent every time we saw him. He wasn’t just a jump ball, playmaking wide receiver, he ran good routes and always found a way to get open and that’s what was so impressive about him. It didn’t matter who he was going up against or what the route was, Robinson always found a way to get separation and was open more times than not.
OTHER BREAKOUT PLAYERS [player_tooltip player_id="202153" first="Anthony" last="Watson"] - 2024 ATH - Muskogee (Sooner 7) [player_tooltip player_id="288966" first="Brody" last="Rutledge"] - 2023 WR - Sand Springs (Sooner 7) [player_tooltip player_id="330941" first="Damien" last="Marshall"] - 2024 - DB - Union (918 Elite) [player_tooltip player_id="319804" first="Devon" last="Jordan"] - 2024 ATH - Union (918 Elite) [player_tooltip player_id="339201" first="Eric" last="Peterson"] - 2025 ATH - Victory Christian (Sooner 7) [player_tooltip player_id="310982" first="Thomas" last="Gothard"] - 2023 DB - Union (918 Elite)
