has been a prospect that we’ve watched for two years now. It began in the offseasons when Hendricks was a standout for Sooner 7 in various 7v7 tournaments across this part of the country. As a wide receiver and safety, Hendricks is going to be one of the top two-way players in Class 2A this season. And what Hendricks does on offense is going to be something we watch very closely this fall. He’ll be Marley’s top target in the passing game and he routinely finds his way behind defenses and gets open to make plays. On defense, Hendricks finished with nearly 100 tackles on the season and his recruitment is starting to really take off. We think that Hendricks will see his offensive production explode this fall.

when it comes to his recruitment. We’ve watched Hendricks quite a bit over the last 18 months between his work with Rejoice Christian and then in the offseason with Sooner 7. Hendricks appears to be just another wide receiver that doesn’t blow you away with just the eye test. But we’ve seen it for 18 months now and time after time, Hendricks finds a way to beat his defender in a 1 on 1 situation and he did it again on Tuesday. On one play in particular, Hendricks beat his man on a go route and caught a perfectly thrown ball in the end zone. Hendricks beats his man more times than not and he can do it in a variety of ways. He checks the boxes with hands, speed and route running. He shouldn’t be flying under the radar anymore.

is always one of the toughest prospects to evaluate when it comes to playing at the next level. We’ve seen quite a bit of Hendricks in person over the last year from 7v7 in the offseason to his play with Rejoice last fall. But when it comes to his film, it’s hard not to be impressed with his ability to play wide receiver and safety at a very high level. On offense, Hendricks is a big play waiting to happen as there are several examples of Hendricks going up for a jump ball and coming down with it. He also showed the ability to help his team in the return game and excelled there. Hendricks was also a standout for the Rejoice track team that won a lot of events back in the spring of 2022. On the defensive side of the ball, his closing speed is something that really stands out and you can see why he has success in track. And the ball skills are there, which isn’t a surprise because he’s a strong wide receiver. But the question still remains. What is he at the next level? Most prospects, we have a good idea but Hendricks continues to be a mystery. He’s a next level guy, we just don’t know where.

. While playing with Sooner 7, we got a chance to see Hendricks up close during several tournaments throughout the spring and he impressed on both sides of the ball. He can be a dangerous wide receiver but as of right now, it looks like his more natural position is at the safety spot on defense. And that side of the ball will be more important on Friday as Hendricks will need to see where the Cascia run game is headed and try to limit what they can do on the offensive side of the ball. But don’t overlook Hendricks being able to turn around and become a wide receiver with really good size to present match-up problems for Cascia’s defense.
