When I look at the ranked 2023 Wide Receivers, I see a great group of athletes all with D1 potential. Today we’ll take a look at 4/5 of these receivers, and discuss their projected 2022 output, their strengths, and more. I cant wait to introduce you to these four receivers!
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="178996" first="Evan" last="Boyd"] - East Lansing</span></strong>
At a school known for producing receiver talent, [player_tooltip player_id="178996" first="Evan" last="Boyd"] is a division 1 prospect standing at 6’3 195lbs. As Boyd has great size, he doesn’t waste it. He uses his big frame incredibly well as he’s dominant with 50/50 balls. In addition, Boyd is a weapon in space as he’s decently elusive, but elite in not wasting any steps, following his blocks, and being an overall dominant force on the field. Boyd reminds me of AJ Brown.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="232201" first="Alex" last="McLean"] - Rockford</span></strong>
McLean broke out last season as Rockford made it deep into the postseason. Coming into 2022, McLean will have to take his game to a new level as he’ll be a leader of a promising D1 club. A prototype slot receiver, McLean is extremely quick and great in space. Week after week during the 2021 season he scorched opposing defenses, and I know he’s been working his tail off this offseason. This coming season McLean will play a giant part in taking Rockford back to the promised land.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="30347" first="Darius" last="Whiteside"] II - Troy</span></strong>
A very interesting athlete from Troy, Whiteside II is more of an ATH who does everything great, but not yet elite. Nevertheless, the potential is there as he’s received multiple MAC offers. Whiteside is a dual-sport athlete who is without a doubt working very hard on his game, and he could shoot up the rankings with great performances in the revamped OAA Blue. Also notable, Whiteside reminds me quite a bit of [player_tooltip player_id="30134" first="Jaden" last="Mangham"] from Groves.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="240757" first="Triston" last="Nichols"] - De La Salle</span></strong>
I have a great feeling about Nichols as he’s on one of the best-coached programs in the state with a B1G 10 caliber QB throwing to him. Nichols is a bit of a mix between McLean and Boyd, as Nichols stands at 6’3 but he’s very athletic and elusive for his size. Nichols is most known for his dominant performance in the 2021 State Championship, and he’ll surely have another incredible season against many amazing programs. In addition, I know he’s been putting in the work and I expect him to receive some offers soon.
