Continue ReadingThis past weekend, Coach John Holman brought his Holman Athletic Performance lineman clinic to the UCHealth Training Center, the headquarters of the Denver Broncos. The two-day clinic showcased players from Colorado, as well as players from Arizona, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas.
In addition to providing elite training and experience gained from his time on Ohio State’s national title-winning team, Coach Holman took the camp attendees to visit Colorado State University and gave them valuable tips on the recruiting process.
There was no shortage of talented players at the event, and this article will take a look at eight standout athletes from day one.
Levi McGee | Christian Brothers College High School (MO) | 6’1”, 300lbs | 2023 LG/C
McGee was one of the top performers at the clinic. He has a strong base, quick feet, and explosive hands, which allow him to generate a massive amount of power and precision in his strikes. His techniques are awe-inspiring and are complemented by his violent style of play. McGee played a significant role in his team’s state championship season during his junior year, which is one of the many reasons this sleeper is a must-know player.

Andre Alverado | Hobbes (NM) | 6’1”, 245lbs | 2023 DE/DT
Alverado is a versatile player who brings relentless pressure from the edge. He is explosive off the line because of his quick feet. He has fast hands and shows impressive skill at disengaging from blockers. His size and athleticism make him versatile enough to fill roles as an interior lineman or a linebacker. Alverado is an athlete who is always eager to learn new ways to elevate his game, making him a player with great potential.

James Cobb | Desert Mountain (AZ) | 6’4, 269lbs | 2024 OL
Cobb is a player who immediately standouts because of his impressive size. He has a broad base and long wingspan, which he uses to seal off the edge. His strength in his hands and his reach give him an advantage against defenders coming from the outside. Cobb is a prospect with serious potential, making him one to watch this fall.

Colin Sturm | Lutheran (CO) | 6’2”, 210lbs | 2024 LT
Strum is a good-sized player with a solid frame that he is not done growing into just yet. He has good technique and great posture when in his sets. He shows impressive strength when engaged, and he does an excellent job setting the edge and driving would-be rushers out of the area. Sturm is a standout player coming off of an impressive sophomore season; circle his name as a prospect to watch going forward.

Aiden Taylor | DeSmet (MO) | 6’2”, 290lbs | 2024 OL
Taylor is a player with an extremely high ceiling as an offensive lineman. He has good size and can generate a lot of power in his hands by using his wide base. He is quick off the ball and moves his feet exceptionally well. He does a great job flipping his hips to keep the defender from getting around him. Taylor is a player who brings a ton of talent to the line, making him a player with immense potential.

Brody Whitaker | Albuquerque Academy (NM) | 5’11”, 235lbs | 2024 EDGE
Whitaker is a stocky athlete with explosive get-off and impressive overall speed. He is an edge rusher who flashes the potential to be versatile enough to lineup anywhere on the line or as a middle linebacker. Whitaker is a strong athlete who plays with unmatched speed and a chip on his shoulder, making him worthy of the spotlight.

Ty LaCrue | Broomfield (CO) | 5’11”, 225lbs | 2025 C/G/DL
LaCrue is a young player with an incredibly bright future ahead of him. He has impressive strength and quick footwork, which he uses on both sides of the ball. He is quick off the ball and plays with a determined demeanor that enables him to go toe-to-toe with tough competition. LaCrue’s career is just getting started, but he is already proving himself to be a prospect with top-tier potential.

Hunter Caudill | Grapevine (TX) | 2026 OL/DL
Caudill was one of a few players in attendance who will be entering their freshman year this fall. His size is imposing, and his frame suggests that he will grow significantly during the next few years. He has impressive strength and quickness in his feet and hands, making him a formidable opponent. Caudill may have been one of the youngest players at the clinic, but his football IQ and overall potential were among the best.
