From highly touted five-stars to preferred walk-ons, the state has an impressive resume of prospects at the next level and beyond. Today, I looked at some of the guys who are flying a bit under the radar right now. These prospects haven’t garnered a ton of attention in the media just yet, but I think they could make a big jump and have a breakout 2022 season. Here’s who to watch for this fall!
WR: Jack Koerper, 5’10″, 155, Columbian, JR
A shifty slot that can make you miss in a phone booth. Jack shows fantastic balance with tacklers bearing down and almost effortless change of direction. He’s a silky smooth route runner who can make extremely tough catches out of awkward body positions.
WR: Jackson Wiley, 6′, 160, Olentangy, SO
A major vertical threat with the speed to take the top off just about any defense. Jackson can drop his hips and throw on the breaks like it’s second nature. He works all three levels of the field well and is a maestro with the ball in his hands after the catch.
WR: Bryce Roggow, 6’3″, 180, Columbian, JR
A pure x receiver with solid build-up speed and the ability to win on contested throws. Bryce has a plethora of press releases and can beat you with his quickness or physicality. He’s a natural hands catcher who easily rolls the neck and tracks the over-the-shoulder ball right into the breadbasket.
ATH: Evan Rindlaub, 6’1″, 185, Olentangy, SR
A good size safety with great range and tremendous ball skills. Evan will key opposing tackles, break within the cylinder of his body once he reads run, and shows zero issues tackling in space. Offensively, he was a weapon as both a receiver & running back and was quite explosive once he got his hands on the ball in the open field.
QB: Brayden Roggow Brayden Roggow 6'4" | 180 lbs | QB Tiffin Columbian | 2024 State OH , 6’3″, 175, Columbian, JR
A twitchy release with fantastic ball placement. Brayden is calm under pressure and will deliver strikes downfield with a free rusher coming at him off the edge. His feet and hips are in-sync & lead to pinpoint accuracy on intermediate-vertical throws.
TE: Gavin Glover, 6’6″, 220, Olentangy, JR
A major mismatch on linebackers who can go up and get the jump ball in the redzone. Glover fights to get his hands on the breastplate as a blocker and will keep his feet moving on contact. He uses his body as a weapon, shielding defenders away from the football to ensure a clean catch.
OL: Jordan Hall, 6’9″, 315, KIPP Columbus, SR
A raw but massive tackle prospect with a ton of upside. Hall moves like a ballerina and has no problems as a pass protector against speedy rushers. He’s proven that reaching five techniques on outside zone schemes is not a problem, and he will overwhelm down linemen with his god-given size when the time calls for it.
QB: Griffin Scalf Griffin Scalf 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Anderson | 2023 OH , 6’3″, 195, Anderson, SR
Sclaf has a good feel for the pocket and knows when to slide upward to make throws downfield. He’s a physical runner with the ball in his hands and will barrel through defenders that get in his way. I was really impressed by his creativity when the pocket collapsed and think it could be overall his greatest strength.
