#1 Jessethan Coffey | WR | Battle Creek Central | Hudl
Coffey is great at breaking down and making sharp cuts to get separation. His cutting ability makes it so difficult for defensive backs to cover him on in-breaking routes. I am very impressed by how well Coffey moves laterally. He is great at moving into a good position on screen passes to catch and run behind his blockers. Jessethan Coffey is so good at making defenders miss that at times it looks effortless.
#6 Ryan Korfmacher | QB | Stevensville Lakeshore | Hudl
Korfmacher is a very accurate passer. He does a good job of staying calm when faced with pressure. Kormacher is not afraid to take off and run when the pocket breaks down. He is a physical runner who is capable of breaking tackles with ease. Stevensville Lakeshore is a proud football program that will likely make it back to the playoffs in 2022 with Ryan Korfmacher under center.
#6 Joron Brown | RB/LB | St. Joseph | Hudl
Brown was one of the most physical players I watched this year. At the running back position, Brown did a great job of always fighting to get extra yardage. Brown also played on the defensive side at linebacker. He was a great tackler who was always around the football. Brown’s play was a big part of why St. Joseph made it to the state semi-finals.
#9 Matt Lanier | QB | St. Joseph | Hudl
Like his teammate Joron Brown, Lanier played a big part in St. Joseph making it to the state semi-finals. Lanier is a great competitor who became a true field general for St. Joseph in 2021. When his team needed him to make plays in the passing game, Lanier would come through. He has a great ability to set up his blocks and pick up a big chunk of yardage on almost any given run play. St. Joseph has a chance to have another great season in 2022 with Lanier returning.
#14 Zach Kucharczyk | RB | Battle Creek Lakeview
Kucharczyk came up big for Lakeview in the playoff victory over Dexter. Kucharczyk had several long runs in the game. One of them was a 61-yard touchdown run that helped keep momentum in Lakeview’s favor. Kucharczyk will only enter his junior year in 2022 and will look to continue to build off a great 2021 season. Kucharczyk is a great athlete who also excels at baseball as well.
I have followed this conference closely for a while now and have always been impressed by the great athletes. I expect several teams to make the playoffs in this league once again in 2022. St. Joseph will be very interesting with Lanier and Brown returning. Normally teams do not return both their starting quarterback and starting running back. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top in 2022.
