Continue ReadingSeveral teams from across the country have embarked on Miami this weekend for the opening 7v7 tournament of the season and the lone Tennessee representative not only came to play but was one the most impressive teams from Day 1 action.
DreamTeam walked into Miramar Regional Park and started the tournament 3-0 with wins over Burch Sports (24-13), ESA Elite (28-10) and Dream Miami (26-22) which has placed them 6th overall from Day 1 and a 1st round bye for Sunday’s single elimination playoffs.
It was a great opening performance from DreamTeam as this was the first time this year that these players collectively played together and by going undefeated on the day, the rest of the teams in this tourney need to know who these guys are!
The talent spread across this year’s Dream Team is pretty stacked and that talent stood out on Saturday in several ways, including a few strong individual performances
– A pair of Knoxville natives put together a strong showing and to me, increased their recruiting profiles going forward. Powell (WR) Adarius Redmond Adarius Redmond 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Powell | 2023 State TN was unguardable, dashing past his defender just about every time and ended up scoring multiple touchdowns on the day. Redmond has good size, arm length and speed to work the deep ball. He is also a big play threat waiting to happen, so you can definitely see the upside and why he has the Power Five offers that he does.
– Karns (RB) DeSean Bishop DeSean Bishop 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Karns | 2023 State TN was a pleasant surprise on Saturday, displaying the ability to catch the ball and run routes like a receiver. He produced at least 4 touchdown’s on the day and was an excellent secondary valve option that paid off several times on the day. Bishop led the nation in rushing last year and this weekend he is showing what he has in his athletic bag and that’s Power Five talent!

– The guy who most of the scouts had their eye on from the moment he stepped on the field on Saturday was Independence tight end and current Ohio St. commit,
Ty Lockwood

. This Middle Tennessee product is a mismatch problem in these 7v7 tournaments that defenders in the slot can not handle and on Saturday, Lockwood displayed these abilities and then some. This guy is also mature beyond his years and a leader that will do anything to help his team win. The Buckeyes have themselves a stud here in Lockwood and a guy that could become the next great tight end to come out of Ohio St.
– The DreamTeam defense had it’s ups and downs on Saturday but they are loaded on this side of the ball with upside to lead this 7v7 team all the way to the championship. Two guys who showed out in Day 1 action that could be key leaders towards winning a tourney title are Mt. Juliet (LB) Ethan Crisp Ethan Crisp 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Mt. Juliet | 2023 State TN and Hillsboro cover corner Syncere Safeeullah Syncere Safeeullah 6'2" | 175 lbs | DB Hillsboro | 2023 FL .
Crisp was all over the place on Saturday and was almost dominant with his performance. The biggest thing that stood out about Crisp was his ability to cover out in the flats or down the field. Crisp showed legit speed and the ability to track down the ball anywhere on the field. He also produced two sacks on the day, so this Golden Bears linebacker was easily the day’s defensive MVP.
Safeeullah did what he does the best and that’s cover receivers without allowing a catch. Every time this Burros cornerback was on the field, he was dominant as he did not allow a catch on the day and played with superb technique on every snap. This weekend in Miami only solidifies his #1 defensive back rating by PRZTN and continues to prove why Safeeullah is one of the most underrated defenders in the country.
– Not to be outshined too much by Safeeullah, 2024 Lipscomb Academy (DB) Kaleb Beasley Kaleb Beasley 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Lipscomb Academy | 2024 State TN had a stellar day as well. This guy is tall, long and smooth with his breaks and plays with some of the best technique and football knowledge that I have seen in years. I could easily see Beasley becoming the #1 cornerback in the country for the ‘24 class at some point in the near future.

– A youngin to keep an eye on going forward, although many in the recruiting circle know him already is 2024 Chatt. Christian athlete

. The Chargers rising junior is ultra athletic and versatile as he could play a variety of roles on the football field. On Saturday in Miami, Carter was used on both sides of the ball to spotlight his athleticism working in the slot on offense and covering the quick and explosive wideouts on defense at nickel. Carter has tremendous upside as a do everything type of athlete that could honestly excel on the college level on either side of the ball.
Day two action begins for DreamTeam at 1 pm Eastern. It is single elimination day, so that means one loss and the tourney is over but this Tennessee based all-star squad certainly has the talent and depth to compete for the tournament title.
