The Coldwater Cavalier’s journey to bring home back-to-back State Championships ended a little short of their goal as they took on a Carey Blue Devils team that was driven by the dream of becoming state champions! It was a battle with many great players. However, here are the players that caught my attention. Coldwater Isaac Fullenkamp RB/LB 5’11 190 lbs. ℅ 22. Fullenkamp won’t wow you with his 40-yard dash but plays the game with a ton of heart and intelligence. From the Running Back position, he is a long strider. Has decent acceleration to get through the hole. Reads blocks well. Keeps his shoulders square to the endzone and is always falling forward. Plays Inside Linebacker as well. Defensively, He loves contact and will deliver a big hit whenever possible. Is very aware in zone coverage. Routinely knifes underneath offensive lineman to tackle the ball carrier on screens. [player_tooltip player_id="122852" first="Jesse" last="Meyer"] TE/DE 6’4 220 lbs. ℅ 22. Posted 4.5 40 yard dash. Has a Tall, Thick frame that can support more weight. Has decent hands. Has a long stride and covers ground quickly. Will run through defenders that try to arm tackle routinely. Has good technique setting blocks up and has proper knee bend to get leverage on shorter linebackers. Works through the whistle on blocks. Really sticks to a defender and drives them off the ball. Tyler Schweiterman 6’4 190 lbs. WR/DB ℅ 22. Uses height to his advantage to win 50/50 balls routinely. Will wall off defenders and use long arms to catch the ball. Is a natural hands catcher. Route running is decent. Tyler will use long strides to separate from defensive backs and track the ball in the air. Will catch the ball in traffic and fights through contact at the top of routes to win. Understands zone coverage and finds the hole to settle in on. Is aggressive when run blocking and will try to pancake defenders. Tanner Muhlenkamp 5’11WR/DB 155 lbs. ℅ 22. Muhlenkamp has been on fire during the playoff run and will look to continue dominating defensive backs in the championship game. At the Wide Receiver Position is a very crafty route runner. Has deceptive speed and decent acceleration at the top of routes. Tanner has long arms to high point the football. At the Defensive Back position, is disciplined. Very aware of combination routes and doesn’t get fooled into jumping the flats. Carey [player_tooltip player_id="91536" first="Derek" last="Lonsway"] QB/SAF 6’0 180 lbs. ℅ 22. Posted 4.6 40 yard dash. Lonsway is a Dual Threat Quarterback. Is a tough runner and will break arm tackles routinely. Keeps his eyes up in the pocket. Has a decent arm and delivers the ball with solid accuracy. Has nice touch on the deep ball. Get’s a good arch on the ball to allow the receiver to run under. Jordan Vallejo RB/DE 6’2 265 lbs. ℅ 22. Posted 4.8 40 yard dash. Is an absolute hammer that punishes defenders during runs. Routinely runs through tackles of every kind. Vallejo has fluid feet and decent vision to bust through holes. Jordan is a tank that chews up yardage consistently. Bryce Conti WR/CB 6’1 170 lbs. ℅ 22. Posted 4.52 40 yard dash. Bryce is a solid route runner. Does a good job of using his long arms to reach out and pluck the ball out of the air. Tracks the deep ball very well and highpoints the football routinely. Conti works through contact to get open. Is a natural hands catcher. Bryce has a decent burst to gradually run by defensive backs. Always comes up with big plays when his team needs it most. Trennen Stoll OT/DT 6’3 260 lbs. ℅ 22. Plays with leverage. Has a decent burst and uses his hands to keep the Offensive lineman off his body. Plays with a high motor through the whistle. Love for the game is evident through his play. Is a sure tackler. Does a nice job of wrapping up and taking down ball carriers with force. Pass rush is relentless.
