Get 25% off your subscription by entering Knight25 in the coupon code area. Enjoy! The first round of the playoffs is in the books! Continuing our series from the regular season, every Sunday during the playoffs, we’ll look at some of the top performances from across the state. This week, we had a good mix of standouts from large schools to small schools. Check back each Sunday to see who some of the best of the best were from the week that was in high school football. [player_tooltip player_id="61136" first="Brayden" last="Gilkey"] - Running Back - Collinsville 11 Carries | 185 Yards | 4 Touchdowns We mentioned in our 5A Playoff Preview that Collinsville was clicking on all cylinders over the last couple weeks and that only continued as they began their playoff run. The Cardinals absolutely bashed Shawnee on Friday night and the Collinsville offense once again could not be stopped. This time it was senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="61136" first="Brayden" last="Gilkey"] who stood out the most. He finished with nearly 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns and only carried the ball 11 times in the game. The Cardinals now shift their focus to a Bishop McGuinness team that blew out Ardmore in a first round stunner.
[player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"] - Quarterback - Rejoice Christian 20-24 | 290 Yards | 5 Touchdowns | 7 Carries | 111 Yards | 1 Touchdown Rejoice Christian lit up the scoreboard once again in their first round victory over Kiefer. The Eagles continued their offensive onslaught, led by junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="157515" first="Chance" last="Wilson"]. The Rejoice quarterback has had a fantastic breakout season and it appears that it’s far from over. In the win, he threw for nearly 300 yards and five touchdowns while completing over 80 percent of his passes. He also added over 100 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Rejoice advances to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs and will face off with Antlers on Friday night.
[player_tooltip player_id="38734" first="Collin" last="Matteson"] - Athlete - Oklahoma Christian School 4 Catches | 110 Yards | 2 Touchdowns | 14 Tackles | 2 Interceptions It should be no surprise that OCS senior standout [player_tooltip player_id="38734" first="Collin" last="Matteson"] has had another stellar performance. He helped lead the Saints to an easy first round win and did it on both sides of the ball once again. On offense, he caught four passes for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also had over 10 tackles and two interceptions on defense. However, OCS is in an absolutely loaded 2A playoff bracket and the road to a potential gold ball gets much tougher this week as they host Community Christian for their second round game. CCS also had a Top Performer from their first round victory Friday.
[player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"] - Running Back - Grove 300 Rushing Yards | 95 Receiving Yards | 5 Total Touchdowns Everyone by now knows the story of Grove and their intentional safety for a district title. Well, it almost ended early as the district champs had to rally to knock off Fort Gibson in the first round. Leading the comeback was junior superstar running back [player_tooltip player_id="57158" first="Emmanuel" last="Crawford"], who has very clearly established himself as one of the best players in the state. On Friday, he ran for 300 yards and also had nearly 100 yards receiving and finished with five touchdowns, including the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Grove now faces an Elk City team that just stunned Cushing on Friday night.
[player_tooltip player_id="231450" first="Gabe" last="Rodriguez"] - Quarterback - Wagoner 36 Carries | 267 Yards | 4 Touchdowns | 100 Passing Yards Wagoner junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="231450" first="Gabe" last="Rodriguez"] is emerging as one of the young stars in 4A football and is continuing to have a breakout season. In their close call against Hilldale, the Bulldogs found themselves in an absolute fight and it was Rodriguez that led the way to victory. He finished with 267 yards and four touchdowns on 36 carries! 36! As if that wasn’t enough, he also threw for 100 yards and had nearly ten tackles on defense. Rodriguez is continuing to play lights out football and they’ll need it in the quarterfinals when they travel to face top ranked Tuttle on Friday night.
[player_tooltip player_id="215207" first="Holden" last="Thompson"] - Running Back - Stillwater 30 Carries | 185 Yards | 3 Touchdowns Stillwater kept the game plan fairly simple against Booker T Washington in their first round victory on Friday night. The Pioneers wanted to control the ball, keep their offense off the field and not test the Hornet secondary. Mission accomplished as their sophomore running back [player_tooltip player_id="215207" first="Holden" last="Thompson"] had a career night in the win. The young Pioneer standout finished with 185 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries. It was an absolute workhorse-type effort from Thompson and the Pioneers. They’ll need more performances like that as they face three-time champ Bixby in the semifinals.
[player_tooltip player_id="225834" first="Kallen" last="Montgomery"] - Running Back - Community Christian 12 Carries | 238 Yards | 4 Touchdowns Community Christian opened up their playoff journey with a big win over Davis on Friday night and they had several players who shined in the win. But we had to give the nod to senior running back [player_tooltip player_id="225834" first="Kallen" last="Montgomery"], who torched the Wolves and barely touched the ball. He only had 12 carries on the night and still finished with well over 200 yards and four touchdowns on the night. The playoff journey now becomes incredibly tough for Montgomery and company from here on out. It starts this week as he and the Royals travel north to face district champ OCS, one of the overall favorites to win it all in 2A.
[player_tooltip player_id="38703" first="Rovaughn" last="Banks"] - Quarterback - Union 8-15 | 251 Yards | 4 Touchdowns | 124 Rushing Yards | 2 Touchdowns The newly christened Union Redhawks began their playoff journey on Friday night with a blowout victory over Yukon. Leading the way once again was senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="38703" first="Rovaughn" last="Banks"], who had an outstanding game in his final home game of his career. Banks threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns and also added 124 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Banks has this Union offense clicking on all cylinders as they go into the semifinals. Speaking of the semifinals, they’ll face off with Broken Arrow in Owasso after the Tigers knocked the Rams out of the playoffs last week.
