Ben Meyers – North Muskegon – QB – 6’1″ 174 lbs
Meyers didn’t need to throw a ton on Friday but when he did he was extremely efficient. He only had 4 incompletions on the night and moved the offense up and down the field for a score on the first 3 drives of the night. He also added 111-yards on the ground and 3 TDs. He didn’t need to do much and just had to drive the car. He did just that on Friday and helped lead North Muskegon to a win.
Ryan Francis – Grand Haven – RB – 5’8″ 165 lbs
Grand Haven’s passing offense was non-existent for much of the game on Friday but luckily Grand Haven had Francis on the ground. They gave Francis a true workhorse role on Friday. He carried the ball 28 times and then tallied 105-yards on the night. He scored Grand Haven’s only TD on the night as well. Francis was a bright spot for Grand Haven and I’d expect them to get him involved in the passing game moving forward.
Jackson Core – Spring Lake – QB
Spring Lake found themselves in a shootout with Allendale on Friday and Core stood strong most of the night. He stayed in the pocket and was making his reads all night. He struggled when they got pressured but he didn’t make any big mistakes. Core moved the chains a few times with his legs as well. He put up 220 passing yards and 3 TDs on the night.
Kellen Kimes – Hart – QB – 5’11” 178 lbs
Kimes led Hart to an easy blowout win on Friday and he made it look easy. He had Hart racing up and down the field and it felt like they were trying to score as fast as they could on every drive. He was extremely efficient on the night and averaged 17-yards per completed pass. He didn’t face any pressure in the pocket all night which made it just that much easier. He added 4 TDs on the night as Hart blew out White Cloud 54-21.
Thomas McCullough – Ravenna – WR – 6’1″ 180 lbs
Typically McCullough is going to be Ravenna’s leading WR but he started at RB and he came through. Ravenna asked him to step up and be more of a focal point and he was ready. He stayed energized all night and never got tired. He carried the ball 23 times and got stronger as the night went on. He put up 168-yards on the ground along with 3 TDs as he ran all over Central Montcalm in the win.
