Time to finish off our Week Two recap of the best performances by diving into some underclassmen film! There have been several young bucks stepping up early in the season, and performing really well. Each one of these student athletes are going to be names you hear quite a bit over the next 3-4 seasons. Wisconsin high school football is in good hands with these dudes coming through the pipeline. Let’s get into it!
[player_tooltip player_id="167059" first="Cael" last="Eide"], 2024 QB- Pius XI
Stat Line: 15/17, 202 Yards, 1 TD
Pius XI looks like they have an exciting sophomore QB breaking out this season. The 5’11" 175 lbs QB has a lot of tools to build on based off his week two film. The very first trait that jumps off is spot on accuracy. Whether it is on quick bubble screens or down the field, Cael has shown impressive control on his passes. Despite being a younger kid, Eide also has a couple of throws on this week’s highlights that prove he can step into a throw and put a little extra zip on the ball when he needs to. I’m also impressed by the way he goes through progressions. He doesn’t pick his target presnap. Instead he works through his reads until he finds the mismatch. I’m very excited to follow the young QB over the next three seasons to see how he develops.

[player_tooltip player_id="104986" first="Terrance" last="Shelton Jr"], 2024 RB- Franklin
Stat Line: 12 Carries, 97 Yards, 2 TDs
Franklin is home to a couple of the state’s most exciting underclassmen playmakers, including RB [player_tooltip player_id="104986" first="Terrance" last="Shelton Jr"]. The 6’ 185 lbs back is already showing off the frame, and athletic traits to be a three down back at the next level. He is equally as effective running outside and between the tackles thanks to his strong ball carrier vision and instincts. Shelton has a knack for finding the running lanes without hesitation, sticking his foot in the ground, and then utilizing his 4.5 speed to capitalize on the daylight in front of him. Terrance is also a reliable pass catching option out of the backfield. Keep an eye on this kid. I fully expect him to be in the running for RB1 in the Class of 2024.

[player_tooltip player_id="154514" first="Caymen" last="Gebheim"], 2024 DL- Somerset
Stat Line: 8 Total Tackles, 5 TFLs
Caymen showed off his pass rush skills back in week one with a strong 4 sack performance. This week we got to see how he plays handling more of an edge setting, run defender role. His blend of strength and short area burst shined throughout the highlights. He has the initial burst and range to chase down plays in the backfield that are going away from him and he closes quickly when he got a free release on plays coming at him. Caymen also demonstrated his ability to take on FB blocks as he drove them back, shed the block, and made the tackle. I felt Caymen was going to be a kid to watch among the edge group in the 2024 Class after his week one performance. That feeling is only stronger now that we see him against the run. Check him out. Caymen’s Week Two Highlights
[player_tooltip player_id="105022" first="Hampton" last="Henderson"], 2024 OL- Winneconne
Stat Line: Blocked for 130 Passing Yards, 215+ Rushing Yards
If the 6’1" 230 lbs sophomore LT can maintain the movement skills as he continues to grow and fill out, then Winneconne will have a very talented OL prospect by the time Fall 2023 rolls around. Hampton’s ability, in the run game, to get out of his stance quickly, and position himself so that he can get himself between the defender and the running lane looks easy and smooth for the young lineman. In pass protection, he was bull rushed on most pass attempts allowing Henderson to show off the early signs of a reliable anchor. His ability to land his punches consistently on the chest plate was great to see too. The potential is there for the Winneconne product. Hampton’s Week Two Highlights
[player_tooltip player_id="132332" first="Damarcus" last="Chappell"], 2024 DL- Nicolet
Stat Line: 6 Total Tackles, .5 Sacks
Another strong week for the 6’2" 215 lbs DE prospect. This week’s film highlighted Damarcus’ play strength, motor, and block shedding. Chappell does a great job of playing with leverage, and it allows him to get underneath linemen and drive them into the backfield. Then he can find the ball, shed the block and make the tackle. Speaking of block shedding, this week Damarcus showed us how he used agility to shed blocks as he was able to slide laterally while clearing the lineman’s hands. He also showed his ability to get skinny and split double team blocks. His motor was on full display on several of his tackles as he chased down several plays going away from him thanks to his higher level of speed. Damarcus’ Week Two Highlights
[player_tooltip player_id="105015" first="Logan" last="Gross"], 2024 OL- Sun Prairie
Stat Line: Blocked for 200+ Passing Yards, 100 Rushing Yards, 6 Total TDs
Two words summarize Logan’s week two performance. Play strength. It shows up in every facet of his game. In the run game, when Gross down blocks or double teams defensive linemen he is able to create a ton of movement, and he has the nasty side as he looks to finish them into the ground. In the pass game, I was impressed with his combo of anchor strength and also super heavy hands that slammed the breaks on pass rushers when he landed a punch on the chest plate. The 6’3" 260 lbs sophomore has the look, tools, and traits of one of Wisconsin’s next top OL prospects. Keeping an eye on him over the next couple of seasons is a must. Logan’s Week Two Highlights

Dylan Bredlow, QB/S- Johnson Creek
