QB, Brogan McCaughey Brogan McCaughey 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Cincinnati St. Xavier | 2022 State OH , 6’2, 195, St. Xavier
Brogan McCaughey Brogan McCaughey 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Cincinnati St. Xavier | 2022 State OH is the 6th ranked QB and the 50th ranked player overall in the class of 2022. Last week against Penn, he completed 13 of 19 passes for 168 yards and 3 TD. He also added a rushing TD on a 10 yd run. His play enabled St. Xavier to win the game 41-10. When looking at the film, he quickly makes his reads and is able to read the entire field as he uses his excellent football intelligence to read the defense. He delivers an accurate throw to the open man placing the ball on the correct shoulder maximizing yards after the catch. He shows very good mobility as he uses his very good play speed and athletic ability to outrun DB and LB for a TD. He shows very good competitive toughness as he shows the ability to lower his shoulder and throw a crushing block to a SS enabling the RB to break free for a long run.
RB, James Minor, 5’10, 207, Winton Woods
The Junior RB had an awesome game last week as he rushed for 171 yards on 22 attempts (7.77 ypc) and a TD in a 17-13 victory over Lebanon. He shows very good vision as he quickly finds the open hole showing good burst through the hole as he runs behind his pads. His displays very good contact balance and power as he shows the ability to drag a DB for a few yards as he picks up the first down or showing the play strength in his upper and lower body to keep his feet moving when 2 LB are trying to bring him down.
WR, Nathan Blank, 5’10, 150, Harrison
The Senior WR had a great game last week as he caught 6 passes for 161 yards (26.84 ypc) and 2 touchdowns. Harrison won the game 29-28 over Trotwood-Madison. He plays on the outside as a Z WR. he uses his very good play speed and acceleration to get behind the CB on go routes. He does an outstanding job of tracking the ball in the air and displays very good manual dexterity as he is able to catch the ball on passes that are thrown off-target and is even able to adjust his body to the ball putting himself in position to make a spectacular catch. Once the catch is made, he uses his very good athletic ability to outrun all defenders for a long touchdown.
LB, Timmy Stewart, Mariemont
The Junior LB played very well last week as he had a 35 yard interception return for a TD. Mariemont defeated Madeira 31-7. He plays as an OLB. Against the run, he uses his very good football intelligence to quickly key and diagnose the play, his very good instincts to take the correct angle in pursuit and delivers a punishing hit to the RB for a TFL. Against the pass, he effectively reads the QB, puts himself in good position and displays very good ball skills as he uses his hands well as he comes down with the interception. After the interception is made, he displays good acceleration as he outruns everyone on the offense for the pick six.
WR, Kyle Poppe, 6’2, 175, Lakota East
The Senior had a very good game last week as he caught touchdown passes of 45 and 15 yards as he helped Lakota East defeat Hamilton 54-21. He plays as an X but also lines up tight as well. He uses his good football intelligence to read the coverage and shows good hip fluidity as he separates at the top of his route at a 45 degree angle on post routes. He tracks the ball well through the air and shows the ability to stretch the defense vertically while displaying a good catch radius to make the catch on passes that are thrown both in and out of his strike zone.
